Garmin - nuvi 350 GPS Receiver Review Summary

If you’re in need of some help when navigating the streets, then a global positioning system might me just the answer to your problems and one possible choice is the Garmin nuvi 350 GPS. Reviewers of this GPS like its compact size and its ease of use, as well as its protective wallet and the ease of transferring from one vehicle to another. I've had my nüvi 350 for a little over a year, now and it's really handy, but it's not perfect. When it gives me directions to residential addresses, it seems to be off by a couple hundred feet, which can mess you up with finding the right house if you can't see the house numbers. — If… read full review »

after reading tons of reviews bought this and have been so disappointed. — it takes several minutes to find current location and sometimes even have to reboot.  —  my biggest peeve is that it simply gives wrong directions (not always of course) but in a major city like NEW… read full review »

I purchased the Garmin Nuvi for my husband for his Christmas gift last year after comparing it to the Tom Tom and other personal travel assistants in the store.  I was convinced to purchase it because it looked like the easiest to use out of the bunch and it had a lot of cool features, including restaurant, lodging and fuel guides. The red-vested retail service rep could not offer me much advice on which GPS assistant to choose, so I was lucky that I could try out each one in the store. — — With the Nuvi, I just push the icon for "Food," and a list of all the restaurants in… read full review »

This is often a highly rated GPS unit, for good reason.  It's easy to use right out of the box, and the small portable size (about the size of a PDA) means I can jam it in my purse every time I leave my car.  The built-in battery means I can take it walking with me.  There's even a pedestrian function on the unit!  — The unit speaks street names which is a big help.  Instead of "turn right in 0.1 miles", it says for example, "turn right on Washington Street".  On that note, it also has funny quirks which I don't mind too much.  For example, when… read full review »

The Garmin nuvi 350 is a very handy compact travel accessory.  What is especially nice is that you can easily carry it with you.  The worst aspect is the standard mount that comes with the unit.  After first using it, we immediately purchased the "bean bag" type mount which really works well and enables you to move the unit to either the dash or console.  For people who use more than one vehicle, you can easily transfer the nuvi 350 between cars. — We gave the nuvi 350 the ultimate test by driving to Washington D.C. and its Virginia suburbs where you had to navigate… read full review »

Set up was a breeze, the PDF is available on Garmin.com so I had a couple of days to read and reread the manual (it's a quick read) but turned out to be a snap to get up and running... The nuvi found me in the house even though I was on the first floor in an area that is a dead zone for most electronics. I had test routes in mind to put it through... a few roads that were difficult, as which were the best roads to take, the first one I tried could have thrown me on the highway for a single exit instead of the road I knew to be shorter and a coin toss as to whether it was quicker- nuvi didn't… read full review »

I will not live with out my GPS. I travel alot from Baltimore MD to The Washington DC Virginia Corridor for work. The Garman Nuvi is invaluable for this. I put my maps in the trunk for back up. I still print out map quest for back up in unfamiler areas but need it less and less. I have the Garmin 350 Nuvi and I bought it refurbish before Xmas 2008 for $100.00 less then new. I had to contact Garmin to make sure the manually input the i year warrenty. It has features i do not need and could have gotten a lower model maybe. I made sure I had Text to speach. I have not used the MP3 Player or… read full review »

I received this as a gift and just love it.  — My family and I travel often and this is absolutely the best gift for a traveler.  Now that I have it, I wouldn't want to be without it. — While driving to my cousins new home, we made a wrong turn.  The Nuvi updated the directions and gave me new directions from where we now were.  It was wonderful!  No back tracking or getting out the map to see where we were. — Just punch in an address and it takes you there without having to constantly look at the map.  It has voice prompts and tells you when… read full review »

I love this little device!  I am fairly new to my area, and used a standard compass to get around.  But when I bought my new car, the compass wouldn't work!  So, when I told my boyfriend I needed a way to get around and wanted a GPS, he read all of the other positive reviews on it, and got it for me.  Now I have no clue how I lived without it!  The stand will fall off the dashboard disc from time to time when I'm out of the car, but that doesn't bother me in the least since the Garmin isn't attached at the time. So, I just pop it back on, hook up my garmin and… read full review »

I love this little GPS, it's small and light enough to fit in my handbag, but packs alot into it.  Sometimes it takes a while to locate the satellite, but once it does, the directions are great and easy to follow.  I am very directionally challenged, so this unit has been heaven sent.  I love the detour feature, when stuck in traffic it saves a lot of time giving you an alternate route around the mess.  When it's very cold, I find it falls off the windshield, but that is only in the extremist cold, and once the suction cup and windshield warm up, there is no… read full review »

This is a great GPS unit for the money. It usually sells for around $400, but if you look around you can get it for cheaper. Got mine at Wlamart online for $279. I love it. I got it about 2 months ago and have not had one problem with the navigation. Although the computer generated voice souns a little perterbed when it says "recalculating" if you miss your turn. The only problem is that it does fall off the windshield in cold weather.  I love that it also plays audiobooks and MP3 but I would not recommend that you use this as your main MP3 player. —… read full review »

My worst complaint (other than agreeing that it sometimes gives wrong directions) is that it doesn't have a way to pause without turning it off completely, when stopping at a rest area or for lunch or gas or something.  I get aggravated by hearing the "recalculating" or "a better way is available" or "make a uturn" everytime I exit the interstate.  If it had a button to just hit to pause til you get back to the route it would be an advantage. — I also agree that the bean bag mount is the only way to go. —… read full review »

My husband and I travel occasionally and go cruisen' with our car club - this little gift from our daughter has been such a help!  We never get lost and can find pottie breaks, gas or food at the push of a button.  The screen is somewhat "cartoony" so it's very easy for anyone to use.  I am not computer literate and it's simple for even me to use!  If I could afford it, I would get one for all my friends. —… read full review »

We took this on our cross country trip, and it immediately got us lost, just trying to find the highway. It functioned properly about 75 percent of the time, but when you don't know where you are going, you don't want to get lost 25 percent of the time. I was very frustrated with it, and we actually sold on later, losing money on it. I would not recommend it if you want to get where you are… read full review »

I've been using the unit for a month, and it can always find the best route for me. The interface is very easy to use, too. Overall, this is a very high quality item. — If Garmin is a bit less expensive, then this is a perfect item for everyone who wants a GPS. It is about $100 more expensive than other GPS brands, but, you get what you pay… read full review »
