This unit was easy to set up.  But wait for the initial time to locate the satelites in your area.  I was able to configure the system without refering to the manual once.

This unit is much advanced over my older more expensive unit.  The touch screen is easy to use and all maps for US and Canada are loaded.

You can spend more that $300 but the more expensive units have features or bigger screens that provide little advantages.   Unless you need real time traffic updates this unit is more than adequate for the average driver.

I had an older Street Pilot III which need a map upgrade...

The Garmin Street pilot c530 is a great piece of equipment.  If you are directionally challenged, can't find your way out of a paper bag. This is for you.  It has an incredibily easy to use touch screen display. It also has autofill so you don't have to type absolutely everything out. The greatest feature of this GPS is the Points of Interest catalog. With a simple touch of the screen, you can locate restaurants, banks, malls, parks, and many other things as you are driving on your trip.  The points of interest also contain a full address and phone number. The GPS has turn by turn directions...

I've had my Garmin for 2 years, and I wouldn't be without it.  It is very easy to program addresses and saves my favorite ones.  I like the fact that I can view my route before actually driving it, or changing it as I drive to stop somewhere on the route.  When my cord wouldn't work any longer, Garmin sent me a new one!  They are a terrific company to work with.  I recommend it to everyone.  It directs you the quickest way and gives you the time of arrival.  I've never been directed wrong, and I always arrive on the expected time.  I drove as a courier so I used it on a daily basis, and...

I fell in love from the minute I took it out of the box.  It takes 2 minutes to find where it will call home, then it's ready to go.  One can download maps, car icons etc to personalize this GPS device.  One important thing to note is Garmins will help you follow truck routes, avoid highways and traffic.  It becomes intuitive also knowing where I like to get onto the freeway rather than direct me to the entrance that may be closest.  Great product!  One great feature I like is the estimated time of arrival on the screen and how it re-adjusts when you make a wrong turn.  I will never be lost...

The Street Pilot GPS 530 served me well until I tried to upload the 2008 map upgrade.  It is difficult to laod, takes a long time and leaves out important details about the maps.   I spent almost $100 on upgrade but am now looking to buy a new nuvi.
