The Garmin Streetpilot 320c navigator is an amazing device that informs the driver how to get to locations. It gives not only a map, but also voice commands (even in a British accent if you so choose). You put in the address and it searches it's database. Then a map appears on the screen with directions and estimated arrival time. You can also then save the address and create your own address book within the machine for places you plan to revisit. There is also a data base of places of interest, food eating joints, hotels, airports, etc. like that. You can search those near where you are or even near where you are going. You can also put in detour along your route to go somewhere extra along the way.
I cannot tell you how many times I have made wrong turns getting to jobs (I am a professionsal flutist) and it has corrected me and gotten me there on time. I also feel confident letting my 18-year old daughter drive to far places with it along to make sure she knows where she is going. It's a great device and invention! I would very highly recommend it. I think new they cost a couple hundred dollars, but now you can get them cheaper at ebay because more modern models of GPS systems are out there.
