Garmin - Nuvi 760 Review Summary

Printing maps via the internet is one way to plan a trip, but another method that offers more precision is a global positioning system. One GPS that offers the ability to map directions plus a whole lot more is the Garmin Nuvi 760 Car GPS Receiver. This GPS is loved by reviewers for many reasons, like its integrated Bluetooth capabilities, audio book player, JPEG image viewer, trip calculator, least use of freeways option, and much more. The Garmin Nuvi 760 Car GPS Receiver is a “Full- Featured Device- A Must Have for Your Car” and other than the price, reviewers feel this is an excellent choice for a GPS due to its multiple functions and nearly flawless mapping and directions. Bottom-Line: In a side-by-side comparison with my three year old TomTom One XL-S GPS, the Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS comes up short.

In the past I have relied heavily on Mapquest.com for detailed step-by-step directions to and from one town, village, or hamlet to the next, as well as direction in the...

This gps device is a wonderful tool for traveling in the car.  I love the integrated bluetooth feature which allows me to use my cell phone without needing my headset when I drive - wonderful!  Also, the gps mapping and directions are superb, well pronounced, and indispensible when inserting destinations after I've already left home.  Get it!

I just got this model and then drove 5,000 miles, and was never lost or for want of a place to go! SO MANY Poi's, I could always find a restaurant, Gas Station or Hotel no matter where I was.

Interestingly, the nuvi 760 does not include an AC adapter for charging the unit outside the car. Garmin's previous high-end units, the nuvi 600-series, included an AC adapter.

Except for the power switch on the top of the case, there are no visible controls on the nuvi 760. All operations are performed via the 4.3" color touch screen. If you look closely, you can also notice a small microphone hole along the left side of the frame. The microphone is used when pairing the nuvi 760 with a Bluetooth compatible cell phone for hands-free calling.

The nuvi 760 and 770 have a black frame, while the less...

My husband and I recieved our garmin gps for Christmas.  A gift from our children who felt mom and dad were not up on the latest gadgets.  I am not tech savy so I was a little concerned about using one of these new fangled devices.  After all I own my share of maps.  There is something to say about punching in a little info vs. unfolding and folding the paper map.  But honestly I was still a little skeptical.  How could this voice that has never been to wear i am going know how to get me there.   Well let me tell you,  I LOVE this device.  It has been a god send to us.  I don't know... review »

I've never used a GPS before, which left me printing directions from mapquest or google maps (or incases where I was out of ink, scribbling directions by hand on envelope backs). The problem I had was if I missed a turn or there was construction, I was sunk. I can read a map, but not going 45+ miles per hour. The Garmin Nuvi 760 has allowed me to step outside of that. I am no longer searching street signs, I just glance to doublecheck as I turn left when directed.

I'm sure many GPS units are good for this as well, but I am partial to the Nuvi because of its customizations. It has expandable memory...

We just got a Garmin Nuvi 760 as a christmas present for each other.  We are lon time travelers with a husband who does not stop for directions.

You can imagine how many times we've ended up mad at each other because we were lost.  Well, we will be lost no more.

This Garmin is wonderful.  It has maps of everything. It talks to you when your lost and it corrects your mistakes.  We love it.  We will never travel without it again.

It is totally easy to set up, the system navigates that whole process for you as well.  Once you've downloaded the maps from your computer, you are set to go....

I brought this for my husband for Christmas this year.  Updated the software on their website.  I was really surprised that the GPS could not find the movie theatre within 10 miles of my home.  I then tried it when we went to Philly and it kept telling us to get off exits before the actual exit came up.  It told us to make rights on one way streets which go the opposite way.  It only came in handy when we were within blocks of the store.  My last adventure with the GPS was finding a hunting store.  The garmin said make a right and we were there.  Good thing we didn't listen because I would...

I bought my Garmin Nuvi after using my brother in laws unit for a road trip to New Mexico. We were going to use the unit for geo caching and that was it and it ended up being the most important packed item for the trip.  We used it to find gas, not that we are blond, but having gotten caught up in the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico often found that we forgot gas is a necessity to keep on sight seeing.  Since that trip I went and bought my own unit and use it on a daily basis for my work as an over the road driver.  This unit has saved me many a time from taking the long way.  The only drawback...

The Garmin Nuvi 760 is a reliable and easy to use GPS. When this GPS came out, it was quite expensive but you can probably get used ones these days on the cheap. The unit comes with the base display, a suction cup for windshield mounting, a dashboard mount, cord to link up to the computer for updates, adapter, and a car charger. The display is a widescreen touch screen. This GPS is not voice activated.

In my opinion, this GPS does a nice job of getting you to your destination. You input the address and off you go! You can set avoidances like highways, tolls, ferries, and such if you desire. The...

I was recently on a trip to Niagara Falls with my daughter and had the pleasure of using her Garmin Nuvi 260.  As soon as we got back to Texas, I began researching GPS models and ultimately selected the Garmin Nuvi 760.  It has a selection of voices, both male and female, with different names and accents.  I travel with "Karen" because I like her Australian accent, and she never lets me get lost no matter where I am.  There is a build in FM traffic receiver as well as an optional MSN receiver which is built in to my car charger (and, FYI, works with whatever Garmin it happens to be plugged...
