My garmin is a must have for any time I leave town. I love the way I can store LOTS of locations. I would like to be promted if I am storing something with the same name. Instead the garmin just ignores the nickname I am giving it and list the address. So I try hard to number like locations. Wal-mart 1, Wal-mart 2, etc. I also wish the updates were better. Such as places that go out of business and new businesses. My DH loves using the bluetooth function and playing music through it. My garmin makes getting around so much easier.
...

Anyone that ventures into unknown neighborhoods or towns shouldn't leave home without your Garmin. Too easy to use! Best invention since disposable diapers. Especially great for finding those Garage Sales. Informational. So easy to use, you don't even need the directions.
...

The Nuvi 680 is a great GPS. It can not only show, it talks to you. If only the GPS can play movies and has a the av input you basically have a tv. It has a internal bluethooth. Another disadvatage is the holder won't stick that good to the widow or other object in the car. I would never use it while driving because it requires some time to set it up and mite cause an accident. I would also never place it infront of the dash board cause it is easyily distracting with its voice. Also i would never leave it uncharged because the battery won't stay on for long time
...

I purchased the Nuvi 680 GPS about 8 months ago. I have a terrible sense of direction and this really helps me get around in areas that I am not familiar with. The only negative, it doesn't always find an address or location name that I type in. I guess maps are not updated often enough.
...

I recently bought a Garmen- Nuvi 680 GPS and have really enjoyed using it. The set-up was simple, just take it out of the box hook it up and your ready to go. This GPS has a widescreen 4.3" display and touch screen buttons. I had to go on a trip last week and it made it so easy to get to my destination. I just programmed in the address I was heading to and it quickly had it mapped out. It had easy to follow directions on the screen and and gave me voice directions as I drove, it told me in plenty of time to prepare to take an exit or make a turn. If you make a wrong turn it guides you back to the street you need to be on. It comes with a suction cup mount that mounts it firmly to your vehicle, a quick reference quide to make it easy to use, owner's manual, a nice carrying case so you can take it with you, and a charger so you can charge it. After taking that trip I really wondered how I could have made a trip without it.
...

The Garmin 680 is an easy to use system. Looks up restaurants, entertainment, just about anything. No extra accessories are needed. For the most part it has been very accurate. Great to be able to decide your route, quickest, less congestive, toll or no toll. Got the first one for my husband 2 years ago, now 6 other family members have them too.
...

findmyway8 says "Blows away the Magellan device I had." about Garmin - Nuvi 680

The Garmin Nuvi 680, was quick to set up and use. Maps were bold and easy to follow, and updates are simple to download and apply to the device. Only problem I have encountered is setting up the MSN Direct access. When I have the device hooked up to my computer it tells me that I need to be connected to the car, and when it is connected to the car it gives a long access code and tells me to submit it on a web site. Kind of stupid if you ask me. Anyway, typing in the addresses and adding favorites is simple. The bluetooth setup for my phone was quick and painless and I can use the Nuvi as a hands free device directly through my stereo using a cassette adapter to headphone jack setup as well as the radio frequency tuner (this option is flakey though). The Magellan maps were out of date when I first got the device and after 2 years (at least 1 year of Magellan promissing updates), the updates finally came out and by the time I got to the Magellan site the updates were not available......

Just visited New York City with our new Garmin 680. She (we like to think of our Nuvi unit as a she..with a very sweet voice by the way) got us to our shopping spot, a broadway show, a great restaurant and out of the city with such ease we couldn't believe it. Usually, my husband has to hop out of the car to ask directions from the cab drivers (please don't try that, you people out there!). This trip all we had to do was tap that cute little screen and off we'd go. We love how it tells you which lane to get into before all turns and exits. I love how it will re-route you if you can't get over in traffic and have to miss a turn. Talk about taking the stress out of driving. I am really looking forward to using it on my next shopping excursion. It really is like having a very good navigator sitting in the passenger seat telling you where to turn and which lane to get into. Also Nuvi never misses a turn (unlike your best friend who can sometimes get talking and forget to tell you...
...

I bought my Garmin Nuvi 680 about 5 months ago and have really enjoyed it! It powers on and gets a satellite lock very quickly, does a decent job of pronouncing street names, and so far, the directions have been spot-on. I like the built-in FM transmitter and often use it to listen to audiobooks. Audiobooks, pictures, and music are super easy to load onto the unit from a PC. I also like the bluetooth feature and use it for hands-free cell phone use.

I also signed up for the MSN Direct free trial and have found it useful for finding low gas prices and avoiding traffic delays. I do wish that the MSN Direct service would list prices for more fuels than regular unleaded (I drive a diesel vehicle) and it doesn't usually have price info for rural areas.

I have three complaints about the GPS unit so far: (1) the touch screen could be a bit more sensitive, (2) I really wish it would display altitude, and (3) it would be nice to have dedicated volume buttons.

Overall, it was a great purchase.......

I bought the Nuvi 680 GPS receiver for my partner for his birthday. I thought it might make him find his way home from work a little quicker. The problem is, that thus takes absolutely ages to find satellites when it is first turned on.

This means that you have to sit and wait in your car forever before starting your journey. The satellite reception is poor in a lot of areas where I live, and it takes awhile for the gaget to register that I'm actually moving, and have oppps missed the turn.

Very good if you are in a pinch - easy to use, lightweight, and has nice display and a non-irritating voice. Not too bad, but not what I expected.
...

bkovacs says "Good for getting around, but not perfect" about Garmin - Nuvi 680

I deliberately waited until GPS receivers were well past the fad stage before getting one. I knew I wanted a unit with at least a 4.3-inch wide screen and also didn't want the cheapest model. So, when Costco put the Garmin nuvi 680 on sale for $350 -- including a year's subscription to Microsoft's traffic routing and local information service -- I decided to get it.

What it is

The Garmin nuvi 680 is a self-contained GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) receiver with built-in maps for the USA and Canada. You can punch in an address and it will give you a highly detailed map that takes you to that address. At each step of the way, it will verbally give you directions, alerting you well ahead of time so that you can prepare for turns and freeway exits.

The unit has a 4.3-inch diagonal touch screen that you use for entering all information. The side has a slot for an SD memory chip, which is the cheapest and most common type of memory card available. The base unit has 2 GB of memory, about 1.5...
...
