I just got my Garmin about 2 weeks ago. I've only been driving for about a month total so I definately can't imagine driving without it !! I just took it on a LONG road trip from L.A. to Vegas and then to Grand Canyon and back to L.A. again.. it did get me lost once and sometimes tells you things a little weird - but I know that all GPS have that problem sometimes - you just have to overide it. Such as one time I exited the freeway and it wanted me to take the streets 80 miles rest of the way to Vegas. I went a few more blocks and it corrected itself. But since all GPS use same systems that is a universal problem that will pop up from time to time. But from all the hours and hours I've used it - this has been rare - and this GPS has proven invaluable to me! I just love it!
The 680(?) has the MSN service however, which provides better traffic updates and also gas prices. But that model is a bit more expensive. Other than that I think they are virtuall the same.
This particular model has tons of features and a huge screen (compared to other GPS - I did not realize at first that most GPS are made so small!) and you can program all kinds of things into it - such as different map views, different settings, etc. I set up mine to go DING! when I get close to a turn. I love it because as soon as you make a turn it will tell you what your next move is going to be. And how many miles you will be on that street and if you are going to be making a left or right. I LOVE this thing. You can even pick from like 50 different languages/accents. I gave mine a British accent and named him Jeeves..
Highly reccomended !!
Besides - when you can buy something on Amazon for $200 cheaper than Best Buy.. go for it !!
