Overall the Nuvi has been a great investment. I say investment because the $500 price tag is nothing to shy away from. However, my husband travels to different cities a lot and has come to rely on his "magic travel genie".
I have used it on family vacations and enjoy the ability to easily navigate in unfamiliar locations. However, the fact that I don't know what's coming up in heavy traffic annoys me. I like to know what I'm looking for and the Garmin doesn't give directions until you are one mile away from them. In rush hour traffic in larger cities such as Detroit and Chicago, this can be a problem with lane changes.
The software is sometimes out-of-date. For example, you can choose a restaurant to go to in the area, drive there and find that it is no longer there. This can be inconvenient with kids in the car.
Overall, the Nuvi is worth the money and makes road trips more fun since you can look for points of interest and add them as a stop in your directions.
