I've had my Garmin Nuvi 660 for three years now and I think it's great! I used to input my directions via google maps or mapquest and print them out before taking long trips, but now I don't have to worry about that hassle anymore. The best part of the system is the auto-rerouting. If you miss a turn, it will recalculate and get you back on your route quickly. It has the ability to look up restaurants, gas stations, etc but sometimes that doesn't work too well. Some of the locations are outdated, and others jsut don't show up when searched for. It's an incredibly easy to use system, jut input your destination address and you're ready to go. The touch input is just ok though. It has large, easy-to-use buttons, but I often have to touch my selections multiple times before it registers properly. It has the option to play audio trough your car's speakers, but I find that more of a hassle than a benefit. You have to set up the recieve to broadcast on a specific radio station,...
...

I bought this GPS a full nine months after my husband asked me too. I guess he got tired of phone calls saying "uhm sweetie, how do I get home from ..." and "do you know what's wrong with the freeway, it's totally blocked up - should I get off". Okay - I don't sound tech-savvy, but I do know my way around technology. I just can't navigate myself out out of parking lot. While the Nuvi 660, won't get you out of the parking lot - it will get you where you are going. It uses actual street names, which is critical if you aren't the best at determining what 300 feet looks like. I love the fact that I can have my GPS use either the built in speaker or the car stereo speakers through the FM reciever. I put it on FM, listen to my favorite tunes on the built in MP3 player, and it pauses the music to give directions and immediately resumes the music. Such a nice feature. I also like to play my MP3s through the car stereo, because I can control the volume better - songs aren't all...
...

The Garmin Nuvi has been a a great addition to my everyday worklife. For a person would not consider themsleves technically savy, I have found this product to be extremely easy to use and one hundred percent accurate when I do have to use it. The features of the product that I enjoy is the voice option that literally tells you when to turn, how far to travel before you make another turn and lets you know exactly when you have reach your destination. This product also has to ability to be updated with new roads and locations with a simple upgrade form the company. The only issues that come across with the product is occassionally the satellites that provide the directions to the GPS get lost to the actual machine. This usually takes place in tunnels or on top of hills. While this is usually only a momentary siutaion it does complicate my driving when this does occur. Overall I have been quite pleased with the product and would expect any and all new GPS systems to provide even...
...

I really like the step by step direction features of my Garmin Nuvi GPS system. The upcoming road feature is helpful, although I wish it would 'say' the road instead of just showing you the road that is coming up. The one drawback that I have found is the loudness of the GPS Garmin Nuvi. It would be nice if it had a volume control on it. Sometimes I find it WAY TOO LOUD so much that it almost startles me when I'm not expecting it to speak, but on the other hand, sometimes I wish it could be louder especially if on the highway or a noisy street then it's almost too hard to hear. Sometimes the re-calculating feature drives me crazy, because I don't always go the exact way it tells me to start out - bit then I usually have to laugh because I have to realize that it is the only way for the GPS system to tell you that it is changing the original set of directions. Only one time has I had the Garmin Nuvi direct me to make a wrong turn.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi in Nov. 2007. It has been the best thing I have ever purchased for my car. I use it everyday for my work. I am not good at reading maps and I do not always have access to a computer. My job requires me to visit several clients a day. It is not often that I can predict my exact schedule each day and my clients do not always know where they want to go. While I may know how to get to each of their homes I may not always know how to get from one to another easily. Many of my clients have doctor appointments in other counties and the Garmin makes it easy to get to each one. The Garmin allows me to get where I am going even when I am not sure. The Garmin is also great for learning new ways to get to places I go to frequently. I would highly recommend the Garmin Nuvi for anyone, especially for people who are on the road a lot. It has personally saved me time and stress and this allows for more one on one time with my clients. The Nuvi comes with many great features,...
...

Well let me inform you about my Nuvi 660. I wanted a GPS so for my Dear Husbands birthday I bought him one. Boy was he surprised. I proceed to read the book and tell him all about it. Our first trip, was great. The beeping sound (which we didn't know what it was) had to look up. Warned us about a traffic jam up ahead. It gave us a way to go around. That won him over. The Garmin Nuvi 660 is of the size you can see it from setting back in your seat and be able to follow the route.

I wondered about all the construction as we passed going on our trip. So annually you get the notice that the map updates are done every year to keep you one top. Garmin does a great job keeping you on top of things.

The voice of our Garmin is great. Sometimes we like the British lady and the other times we like the Aussie. Just a change of sounds.

The Garmin Nuvi has made me a proud owner. As of a year ago this Mother's Day, I had never owned a GPS nor used one. However, after a move to an unfamiliar city and a child, a GPS became rather necessary. So for a gift last year, I was awarded with my own personal PINK Garmin Nuvi. Now probably my favorite and most shallow feature of this GPS is the color. I immediately felt special because even still, a year later, I have not seen a pink GPS. I like to stick out from the crowd and this has allowed me to do so. Now of course, shallow characteristics only go so far if the product is not worth it. However, the Nuvi is worth it and then some. It is on time, every time. If I am traveling a long distance with a variance of speed limits, my ETA is always accurate within minutes. Whereas my fiance's TomTom is always off by sometimes 40 minutes! The POI atttributes are very useful as well. Even the attachment to my window is great except for it loosens up in the heat.
...

Okay, remember the part of The Wizard of Oz when Glinda the Good Witch of the North tells Dorothy that she knew how to get home the whole time? Well, if I were Dorothy, that would be the funniest part of the movie. I am so directionally challenged that I almost NEVER know how to get home from wherever I've been. After many phone calls where my husband tried in vain to tell me how to get home, he finally bought me the Garmin Nuvi. Now, instead of frantically trying to figure out which McDonalds I'm in front of and trying to explain to my husband that no, I really don't know how I got here, I just push the button for home or wherever I need to go and Glinda (yes, I named her!) tells me exactly how to get there...no heel clicking involved! The Garmin Nuvi figures out where I am and how to get to where I'm going. I can even choose a location like Target and she will tell me how to get there even if I don't know what the name of the street is! Thanks Glinda for getting me where...
...

The nuvi 660 is an automotive navigation system with trip planning capabilities.

I like: Easy-to-read display; Text-to-speech synthesizer; automatic dimming of brightness after dusk; the Australian and British womens' TTS voices; automatic recalculating if one misses a turn or encounters road work; large screen; fast response to buttons; a killer "Where Am I?" button that shows lat/long, nearest intersection, nearest address, and the most proximal hospital, police station, and refueling station. This could save your life.

Don't like: The default American accents,w hich sound pinched an inauthentic; the fact that I can frequently override the directions and save time EVEN BY ITS OWN ESTIMATES; the lack of understanding of how traffic lights in my area slow down traffic, resulting in distorted time estimates; the fact that one has to pay for traffic updates (ad-supported, as in later models, would be much better).
...

My very first GPS, and it speaks! This Garmin nuvi 265WT was recommended by a friend, so I had great expectations, and because of that, I became somewhat disappointed. It is not as smart as I had thought. I tested it by using around familiar routes. It turned out it did not know the better routes or the short cuts like I did. It also costs me almost $100 recently. Two weeks ago, I was going to a place I have never been before. I missed an exit and had to follow my GPS recalculated directions. It told me to make a U Turn at the next intersection. As I came close to it, I saw the green left turn arrow and immediately made a U Turn as instructed. Shortly thereafter, a police car flashed its lights right behind me. "Did I do anything wrong, Officer?", I said calmly. I was positive I did not do anything wrong. I never had a traffic citation in the last 20 years. "You failed to obey a No U Turn signal back there", the policeman responded. I told him about the...
...

In my many journeys from central California to the Bay Area (San Francisco) I don't know how I made previous trips without this device!!! Other than my Venti raspberry mocha from Starbucks, my Garmin is my favorite traveling companion!

While these devices may not give you the very BEST route to a previously unexplored destination it will certainly get you there eventually. I love how it will talk to you and tell you a turn is coming in x feet and to move to the right or the left. Navigating through congested highways and busy city streets without having to actually look at anything is a blessing beyond belief!!
