I recently encountered the Garmin Nuvi on a trip with my in-laws to Daytona Beach. None of us had ever been there before and were completely lost, but the Garmin system helped us find our way around with no problems-- it even found the best route back in to Atlanta, which is surprisingly hard for technology most of the time! The easy-to-use touch screen was simple enough for my mother-in-law (the least technically savvy of us) to use and if we wanted to get lost for a while, it was easy enough to touch a button and shut it down or just turn down the voice. It was also compact enough to slip in to a handbag when we went in to restaurants (which we found thanks, of course, to the Garmin!).
