Garmin - Nuvi 350 Review Summary

If you’re in need of some help when navigating the streets, then a global positioning system might me just the answer to your problems and one possible choice is the Garmin nuvi 350 GPS. Reviewers of this GPS like its compact size and its ease of use, as well as its protective wallet and the ease of transferring from one vehicle to another. On the downside, the Garmin nuvi 350 GPS is more expensive than most other global positioning systems and the mounting is not always secure. But the Garmin nuvi 350 GPS is "A Must Have for Any Driver" and it is still a very good GPS Device that ranks very highly among our reviewers.

Back in the good ole' days out of college - no mortgage, no family.  When 100% of my post-bar-tab take-home pay was disposable, I would have gladly plunked down the dough for a GPS. But one day I realized how much money I'd been wasting on these unnecessary electronics purchases. I considered whether...

The Garmin Nuvi 350 was great when we first bought it - and is still a good model today - it gets us from place to place with an easily readable display and excellent choices for voices.  It came preloaded with extras that we never use - an MP3 Player and language dictionary... only really good if you're... review »

I've had my nüvi 350 for a little over a year, now and it's really handy, but it's not perfect. When it gives me directions to residential addresses, it seems to be off by a couple hundred feet, which can mess you up with finding the right house if you can't see the house numbers.

If you need it to come up from a powered off state, be prepared to wait 3-4 minutes. Doesn't sound like much, but I can cover a lot of territory in that time and find that I've missed a good turn-off point. The biggest problem of all I have with it is that I don't have it installed into my dashboard, so I have to turn...

The Garmin nuvi 350 is a very handy compact travel accessory.  What is especially nice is that you can easily carry it with you.  The worst aspect is the standard mount that comes with the unit.  After first using it, we immediately purchased the "bean bag" type mount which really works well and enables you to move the unit to either the dash or console.  For people who use more than one vehicle, you can easily transfer the nuvi 350 between cars.

We gave the nuvi 350 the ultimate test by driving to Washington D.C. and its Virginia suburbs where you had to navigate around and across some major...

I purchased the Garmin Nuvi for my husband for his Christmas gift last year after comparing it to the Tom Tom and other personal travel assistants in the store.  I was convinced to purchase it because it looked like the easiest to use out of the bunch and it had a lot of cool features, including restaurant, lodging and fuel guides. The red-vested retail service rep could not offer me much advice on which GPS assistant to choose, so I was lucky that I could try out each one in the store.

With the Nuvi, I just push the icon for "Food," and a list of all the restaurants in the area appeared.  Once...

This is often a highly rated GPS unit, for good reason.  It's easy to use right out of the box, and the small portable size (about the size of a PDA) means I can jam it in my purse every time I leave my car.  The built-in battery means I can take it walking with me.  There's even a pedestrian function on the unit!

The unit speaks street names which is a big help.  Instead of "turn right in 0.1 miles", it says for example, "turn right on Washington Street".  On that note, it also has funny quirks which I don't mind too much.  For example, when telling you "turn right on Martin Luther Dr"...

Set up was a breeze, the PDF is available on Garmin.com so I had a couple of days to read and reread the manual (it's a quick read) but turned out to be a snap to get up and running... The nuvi found me in the house even though I was on the first floor in an area that is a dead zone for most electronics. I had test routes in mind to put it through... a few roads that were difficult, as which were the best roads to take, the first one I tried could have thrown me on the highway for a single exit instead of the road I knew to be shorter and a coin toss as to whether it was quicker- nuvi didn't get... review »

I do a lot of playdates for my kids and got so tired of mapquesting everything, writing down directions and trying to read them while driving.  We invested in the Garmin Nuvi 350 after much research.  Its a wondeful GPS!  It has text to speech, offers location arrival time, length of distance before turning, different cars to display and even offers male and female voices!  It has a lot of the "extras" without paying the price.  The only complaint I have is that the holder than you stick on your windshield constantly falls off.  Sometimes while driving down the road, the whole thing will...

The Garmin Nuvi 350 has been such a wonderful addition to our vacations!! It has a some what slow startup (in my opinion, but I'm a little impatient) but once it's ready to go it's FABULOUS!!  The unit is very good about finding the most direct route using major roadways, but is also able to get  you to a direction from the middle of no where (I've been "rescued" by it more than once).  It offers some outstanding features like - restaurant finder... imagine this ... you are driving along and suddenly start to feel hungry, not only will it give you a list of local restaurants, but it will...

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 last summer before going on vacation in Memphis.  After renaming the unit Lola in honor of the Robin Williams movie "RV," we were off on a great adventure.  We used Lola to find one of the best BBQ restaurants in Memphis which we would have never found without a GPS as it was in an industrial park area.  I have found that I use it all of the time at home, whether it is just the map function to help me find out what street is coming up next--especially at night--or if I am using it to find a new location.  I have found that I am more adventurous in looking for new... review »

I purchased this GPS for my wife for Christmas and it's been great for her. It speaks the name of the road as you approach, telling you to make a left or a right, so you don't have to always look at the screen. It's not the best I've seen as far as knowing routes and if you're familiar with an area it doesn't always take you the quickest or even easiest way. I've started using it a bit myself, and for my work it would be excellent to have the ablitly to add multiple points on a route. But for the money, it hasn't failed us yet. It's not the most expensive or cheapest, so it's really the perfect...

I recieved the Garmin Nuvi 350 as a christmas present last year and I can tell you after having used the unit for more than a year I love it. I use it when we are driving, camping, hunting, and boating. The unit is very attractive looking and is small for a gps which I like because it doesnt take up too much windshield real estate. I personally opted to purchase the non-skid dash mount for this unit because of how far the windshield was from me in my truck. This unit has gotten me to the places I needed to be without too much out of the way driving it seems. I also use its memory to store good...

after reading tons of reviews bought this and have been so disappointed.

it takes several minutes to find current location and sometimes even have to reboot.

my biggest peeve is that it simply gives wrong directions (not always of course) but in a major city like NEW YORK CITY - in queens where the major highways have not changed it should be able to plot the accurate course.

it is most aggravating when i follow the directions exactly as stated but then it says "recalculating" because it thinks you are now on the wrong path.

to add insult to injury it continues to fall off the windshield. if...

The Garmin Nuvi 350-GPS is a great tool which is compact and easy to use. It saves addresses in memory to avoid having to re-enter information. Optional prompting to let you know the turn is coming up.

One down side is it doesn't always "get it" that you don't want it to take you to the route it wants you to take. I like to store trips in memory because I tend to daydream and could easily forget a turn, the prompting helps remind me. As over time it may learn the route, it is not always the case so you just have to be aware of how you actually want to use the device.

I purchased a traffic receiver...

I will not live with out my GPS. I travel alot from Baltimore MD to The Washington DC Virginia Corridor for work. The Garman Nuvi is invaluable for this. I put my maps in the trunk for back up. I still print out map quest for back up in unfamiler areas but need it less and less. I have the Garmin 350 Nuvi and I bought it refurbish before Xmas 2008 for $100.00 less then new. I had to contact Garmin to make sure the manually input the i year warrenty. It has features i do not need and could have gotten a lower model maybe. I made sure I had Text to speach. I have not used the MP3 Player or opportunity... review »
