We love our Garmin! We don't travel long-distances often, but when we do we make sure we have it with us. But this GPS is great for just driving around town which we use it for a lot since both of us visit client sites for work often.
The wide screen and spoken street names are our favorite features. The directions are clear, concise and give plenty of notice of upcoming turns, etc - all of which allow us to focus on the road and traffic around us rather than squinting at a little screen trying to figure out where we should be going.
It also has a great feature allowing us to find nearby gas stations (can even search by name if you have a preference), ATM's, stores, etc and set them as a way-point so we don't lose our original destination. This has been very helpful since I must admit, my bladder is a little small and quickly finding a gas station or other place to stop is very helpful!
Updating the installed maps is easy. Just log onto the Garmin website, plug in your Nuvi to the computer and the rest really handles itself.
The cons include: Sometimes it seems to take forever to initially acquire the satellite and I am not a patient person which makes it seem even worse to wait so long. The cable needed to connect to the computer is not included with the GPS when you buy it and is needed for the updates. I wish they would just include everything you need with the initial purchase, I hate all these additional after-the-purchase expenses. Which also brings me to the cost of the map updates. They are comparable to other map updates for other units, but I still consider them to be a bit pricey (about $60).
