I asked for a GPS unit for Christmas.  I received the Garmin Nuvi 200 and have been very happy with it thus far.  It is easy to figure out, easy to program, and has gotten me to several different destinations successfully.

This unit is a basic, lower-end GPS that my fiance bought for $250 at Target. ...

I took a trip to San Francisco with a friend and his friend. David, (my friend's friend), had just gotten the GPS system for Christmas. We didn't need the system going to SF, but on our way back it was necessary to use it. It would tell us to turn left where we couldn't turn left, then it would totally... review »

So we picked this up from Circuit City for about $180 on sale. It's our first GPS unit, and I knew we wanted a Garmin. I used to sell GPS units at a sporting goods store ten years ago, everyone always said Garmin was "the best".
I've got to tell you, this system is so cool! We've rented cars with GPS before, and my parents' cars have factory GPS systems, so I'm pretty familiar with the concept and basic workings of GPS systems.
I can honestly say I'm really glad we bought this thing. I cannot wait to go on a trip with it. Life will be so much easier.
The "W" in 200W is for Widescreen. Worth the extra...

I bought this garmin over a year ago. I ALWAYS get lost, so when I had to commute to college which was a good 25 minutes away, where i've never really driven around, it was a must to get. The garmin still works as great as the day I bought it. The only problem i've ever has is with construction and routes being messed up. Definitely update your maps, or it'll tell you to turn off a overpass randomly. From all the use i've done with it, and the times where i've dropped it, it still works awesome. It has a lot of features, you can definitely personalize it to your likings. The cars can be changed,...

I recently purchased a new vehicle and among the various options I considered was an on-board navigation system (mostly for my wife, but I like toys, too).  The cost for this option was over $2000!!   I considered this to be a bit much.   I had experience with GPS units when I was into sailing, but quickly learned that there had been some major technological advances over the last 10 years.  After some on-line research and a first-hand look at several models in local retail stores, I opted for the Garmin Nuvi 200W (about $350) at Circuit City.  I was amazed how easy it is to use;...

I made my very first road trip to Upstate NY, and I never drove on the highway before.  I would have never been able to make this trip without the GPS.  I compared the Garmin Nuvi 200 to other more expensive models and this is a very simple no frills GPS. A lot of the other models and brands offered things like bluetooth, mp3 player, foreign city maps.  Things I did not want or need at this time.  I purchased it at PC Richard & Sons on sale for $184.00 (including tax) The directions I received were very accurate, however I need to adjust how I drive when using the GPS.  I guess I was... review »

I LOVE my Garmin.  We moved to a new town and I was completely lost without this thing.  I can get almost anywhere with it!!  I have learned my way around town, and am now navigating like a pro.  We use this when we go to different towns, or to a new place we have never visited.  Super easy to use and if you miss a turn, it quickly recalculates for you.  I would recommend this to everyone!

We have had Garmin G.P.S. systems since they were first around.  The previous one we paid $450 and it still works great, but is big, and bulky.

The reason we bought the Garmin Nuvi 200 is the size.  It fits into my hand and I don't even have to put in on the dash board or on the front window.

It switches on at the top of the G.P.S.  Garmin comes up on the screen, and then a warning not to alter, or change it when driving.  Then, where to, or view map.  In where to you have address, points of interest, recently found, favorites, extras, intersections, cities, browse map, and coordinates.

My husband and I love our Garmin.  It's durable, lightweight, attractive, and right 99% of the time.  We used to get lost all the time; not anymore!  Thanks Garmin!

It makes us braver and more experimental in our "day trips" to have a GPS.

I can think of a million occasions before GPS devices became popular and affordable when it would have been amazing to have one.  And I can think of some very specific situations when my husband (then-boyfriend) and I got very, very lost trying to navigate on our own.

Seattle, WA is a pretty hard to navigate place; the streets don't make a lot of sense and all...

My husband gave me the Garmin Nuvi for my birthday. I love it. I started using it right away and found it to be the most valuable tool especially living in a newer community. I used to buy a new map book every couple of years or so for the city where I live and one nearby where we visit. We have since been able to remove that expense from our budget.

On the Garvin website you can download new vehicles, which I did right away. The unit also has the option for different voices, male and female with different accents. It's nice to be able to personalize it like this.

The portability of the unit...

The Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS system is great for traveling to unfamiliar destinations, or for everyday use to go to the store, church, etcetera. It will display the estimated time of arrival, based on your speed, which it also displays. The Garmin Nuvi 200 also knows the speed of the roads you are traveling, which helps it to estimate your arrival time. With the option of downloadable content, you need not listen to the same default voice telling you where to turn. You can, however, always go back to the default if you wish. It also has the option of using a suction cup to stick it on your windshield,...

Before I recieved this for christmas from my in-laws, the thought of having GPS had never crossed my mind. However, now that I've used the Garmin Nuvi, I can't seem to picture myself without it. It's amazing, It has a search option that is really helpful. Say I'm looking for the nearest Chic-fil-a or Hospital, I just enter it into the seach and it will tell me where the nearest ones are and in which direction.

It also has a detour option, for if say there is an accident, so you can get around it quickly and easily.

Another great thing I love is it tells you how fast your going. This was great...

What a wonderful little device!  We never thought we would need a GPS system because we don't travel much outside of going to family events and familiar places.  But, boy has this Garmin come in handy!  We use it all the time and it has made traveling such a joy.  It has helped us come out of our "travel shell" and encouraged us to venture out more and explore.  A few of our friends have borrowed it for long out of state trips and they could not believe how helpful it was.  That's the main pro for a GPS system - how helpful it is.  It just takes the stress out of going places because you...

Everyone in my house has a garmin (5 garmins total). I gave my brother my old garmin c320 because I really wanted the pink nuvi 200 when it first came out. I used it a few times and it started acting really strange, like not being able to read major highways such as 295 and route 1. It would constantly recalculate and got me completely lost when I had to go to a fitting for a movie for extra work. If I didn't leave two hours early for a 45 minute drive, I wouldn't have made it.. What's the point of having a gps that doesn't work? I had to send the gps to garmin and they sent me a new one, and the... review »

I've been having the Nuvi200 GPS for awhile now. I got it as a gift. It's been a very nice addition to my car and it does a great job pinpointing my positions and directing me to my targets. It's very affordable, as it runs for ~$150 and it's a must for someone who's looking for a GPS or a gift. However, the Garmin policy on updating maps is that the customer, if they don't benefit from the first after the activation month free update, will have to purchase their new map version for ~$60! Very exorbitant and overpriced compared to the unit itself. Also, most of the Garmin GPS's are being discontinued.... review »
