Comments about Garmin Edge EDGE 705 2.2 in. Handheld GPS Receiver:

I purchased this when it was released . I also purchased the cadence/speed sensor to add to my bike. I do have a PowerTap and it sadly was not compatible, but that all changed when Saris released the ANT+ Sport upgrade so now my heart rate, cadence, power output and speed are all measured for download at the end of my ride. I can choose what metrics to display on the screen during my rides, but it is nice to have them all at my fingertips when using the data for training purposes. It is a Garmin GPS unit, but I cannot comment on the mapping because I ride courses that I know so I don't need the maps, although I have heard from riding partners that the mapping abilities are great.
