Garmin - 260W Reviews

Garmin 260W is my first GPS and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I have it since January '09.  The directions and voice are clear to follow. The proper names of roads provide advantage so that I do not have to look at the screen while maneuvering my car. The voice is loud enough to hear even while windows are open in moderate traffic.
I love the idea of big screen. Color contrast is good, letters are clear, it shows the arrival time at destination and speed. The suction cup is strong and never failed until now. If you miss your route the recalculating speed is very fast. Battery life is also...

Garmin 260W is my first GPS, which I bought before a major trip to Canada, where it was a lifeline through unfamiliar territory.  It's relatively inexpensive, easy to use, with a good sized screen, a variety of voice choices (which speak the turns and street names), and has great geographical coverage. The visual display is clear and easy to read, and the lighting changes automatically for clearer viewing under night conditions.  The Garmin 260W did unfortunately come out before traffic detection programming became standard on the less expensive models, and I would have liked a lane change suggestion...
