I'd never heard of the term, Scanimation, until I bought this book for my toddler-aged grandson.  This one-word titled picture book can be completely summed up in one word:  Wow! Gallop! is a new technology book that borrows from the old kinetoscope principle of creating an illusion of movement by viewing a rapid sequence of images.  The 12-page board book is fascinating.  As you flip through the pages, the horse gallops, the rooster struts, a chimp swings through the air, and a butterfly flutters.  The image of each animal appears on a background under a striped… read full review »

This book is really cool!! It is just a basic book that uses scanimation. Each page has a different animal and as you move the page back and forth, the animal moves. There is a lined plastic overlay over the animal that causes the movement. I can't stop looking at it! We bought this book because my one year old was fascinated with it. I find myself picking it up to flip through the pages so it can mesmerize me. The book is fun for both kids and adults and gets a "WOW" from almost anyone you show it to. This book is called a Scanimation Picture Book. The animals on each page actually move! My 18 month old Grandson loves it! I actually gave it to him on a road trip when he was 15 months old, but the movement made him car sick.......so I waited a couple of months and tried again at home!
