I don't think I have met a Gaiam product I didn't like and this is true of the Yogacise Body Lift. We use this prop regularly in Yoga class.

The specifications

Yogacise Body Lift

  • is made in China
  • supports 250 pounds
  • is 28 inches long by 21 inches wide by 15 inches high
  • is very portable weighing in at 19 pounds

Why use the Yogacise Body Lift?

I'll talk about what I see as the primary use of the Body Lift and that is to do an inversion. Yoga is one of the few systems of health that suggest you regularly turn yourself upside down for extended periods of time. My Yoga teacher always tells us how amazing inversions are from relieving anxiety to relieving constipation.

I know I feel great after using the Yogacise Body Lift. I have done head stands on the floor but for some of us due to injury, age, fear, or name the reason, prefer not to. In comes the Body Lift. This prop allows me to go upside down without any compression on my head.

The padding is super thick making it very comfortable to rest my shoulders on. My head goes through the middle of the Yogacise Body Lift and I hold onto the padded arms. I am now fully supported without fear of injury to my neck.

In spite of the light weight of the Body Lift it is very sturdy. This prop can be used to sit on during meditation. It also can be used to exercise. It comes with adjustable tension straps that attach in two places for resistance training.

The website explains the Yogacise (www.gaiam.com) as a prop that can be used for "headstand, as an off-the-floor meditation seat, and as a portable weight-training bench for dips, push-ups and barbell/dumbbell sets." It comes with an instructional DVD.

Jo's Viewpoints

If you love inversions and have no equipment at home, for $129.00 the Yogacise Body Lift is just wonderful. It's small and it folds so for those of you who love Yoga and don't do any resistance training this will give you just what you need.
