I think I tried every brand of flat irons I could find in the reasonably priced range from stores such as Walmart and Kmart and could never find one to do a good job. A friend brought hers with her to my house one day and I tried it and fell in love. On the box it says "Compare to CHI". I just can't afford a CHI.
I bought the GVP from Sally's Beauty Supply the next day for myself and my teenage daughter and it works wonderfully! It heats up to 410 degrees but adjusts to lower temps. It heats up quickly and I've used it on my hair before it's completely dry. It makes my hair very silky and eliminates all frizz the other flat irons I had used before didn't.You can also use it to flips and curl your hair.
I have frizzy hair and my daughter has very curly hair and this thing is just awesome. I had always thought I should use the 2" flat irons because of how long my hair is but the 1" lets you get much closer to the scalp. I tell everyone about it. It was worth the $70 I paid for it! If the CHI is better, I can't imaine how well that one works but this one works great for me and it's a staple in my hair supply basket.
