completely winning, charming musical with radiant Julie Andrews, charismatic Dick Van Dyke and superb supporting cast.  Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious  or something like that.

Pinocchio  1940  Disney's greatest animated film. Some genuinely terrifying dark moments might be too intense for very very young ones.

Jason and the Argonauts       Stop motion special effects highlight tale of Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece. Ray Harryhausen the special efx king (old school) at his best.

Spirited Away    one of the finest animated movies ever made.  Really.

NeverEnding Story    Message: life is NOTHING without imagination.  Reading trains us to use our imagination.    You like these messages?    I sure do. (skip all of the sequels...)

The Black Stallion

stunning photography and classic tale of girl and her love of a horse

BABE    a beautifully made talking pig movie.

Dumbo   one of Disney's most imaginative, colorful animated films, short running time.

The White Balloon (1995- Iran) -  a gem about a little girl who must by a gold fish for the Persian New Year festivities and the problems she encounters trying to complete the seemingly simple task.  Unforgettable, charming film.

Whale Rider -- Gain some confidence, empowerment and learn about a unique culture all in one inspirational and beautiful looking film.  A young teenage girl is the hero of the film.
