We purchased this machine about 3 months ago when our previous GE machine motor pooped out after 5 years of serious and steady usage.

This washing machine is so quiet for the most part. I had to go back and check and make sure it was actually running as it went through the wash cycle. If you put your ear down to it you can hear it agitating. When it gets ready to spin it sounds like a very quiet jet getting ready to take off. It washes well and holds a good amount of clothes including my king size quilt without problems. It does sound off balance each time I put in a full load of towels, but it recovers itself without needing my attention.

All in all, a workhorse machine without bells and whistles.

Bought a new GE profile washer from Sears and it lasted 3 weeks, it would fill and drain that's all. Had three repair men out to look at it and it needed a special part, waited 21 days and no part came. took it back to Sears. Bought another one from a local appliance store, it didn't work the first time I tried it. The store would not take it back, they said to use the warranty. They finally took it back when I bought a different brand for an added $93.00...I will never, ever, buy a GE...... they are pure JUNK.....EOM
