If you're looking for a nice, basic front load washing machine, reviewers say the GE is a good buy. It's much less expensive than most of the front loaders. The GE does a good job on cleaning clothes. It's not as large in terms of capacity, and it does not have the extra features of the more expensive front load washing machines. The GE does use less detergent, but reviewers note that you don't want to use washing powders in this machine - only the liquid detergents. The GE front load also uses less water. Next time I would get hte stool that places it up in the air more, but the machine uses less water and get the clothes clean. You can place large amounts of clothes in the machine and it will wash with no problem.  I have places king size comforters in this with no problems at all.  Saves me time and... review »

Mine lasted just 4 years.

I have the GE WSXH208A washer.  It has died on me after just 4 years.  Paid $90 for a GE repairman to come check it out.  Repair cost?  Almost the price of the washer.

 I have ordered a new Frigidaire.

I don't like frontload washers.

I always wanted a frontload washer, till I got one. This thing has torn holes in a lot of pants. It spins so hard that the pants twirl around and around until they rip. The clothes wear out faster than normal. It don't matter what cycle I put it on. Another thing Is when I try to take the clothes out, some of them always tumble onto the floor. That aggrevates me. It holds water around the rubber seal, then it molds and it will not come off. Other than those few things it is ok to use.

The washer in question is the best gift I have ever recieved.  It was bought for Christmas by my mother - in - law, and I never asked her for another thing.  THis outweighs any gift.  I had a set of Carhartt Bibs and a coat to match that had been drowned in mud and gunk, I would have never tried it in any other washer, but I tried and they came out cleaner than I would have ever expected.  I had to call and tell everyone.

Ours had been great until it stopped spinning this weekend.  Paid $90 for a repair man to come out only to tell us it would cost more to fix than we paid for it brand new.  Needs new shocks and the timer which sends info to the controll board.  So here we are after 5 years buying ANOTHER new washing machine.  How wasteful.

Got my belated Christmas present after my old GE pair died Friday night (4.5 hr drying cycle & still wet!)

So we went to Best Buy, Circuit City, & ended up at Lowes to get some caulk & noticed they have appliances. The gal was very helpful & she had Frigidaire, GE & Maytag front loaders. $1499 for Maytag was well over my needs & it looked the same size as the other 2. Both were stamped White Consolidated & the same model # inside. GE was $647 & Frigidaire was $699. Identical washers, different prices.
My washer is the 2001 addition, with a model # of WSHX208A1WW. 8 wash cycles, 4 temps, extra rinse.... review »

Was a great washer until it died after two years of use!

This washer was great, and it wasn't too expensive compared to the other front loaders and the large amount of money you save on water and soap.

 But just under two years old and it died, and I got a run around from GE on the warranty, they said I would have to pay $150 minimum for a person to come out if they couldn't prove it was a warranty issue, and other scare tactics.

 The matching front loader dryer's timer died after only one year, so we have to manually turn it off or it will run all day and night, not stopping on it's own.

 GE has left a really bad taste in my mouth after dealing with...

This washer is perfect for basic necessecities. It washes for you and makes the process as easy as possible, how great! Technical problems are rarely encountered, and the machine lasts for a manifold of years without having to replace. The washer offers simple and basic commands which are easy to understand regardless of age. Think about this mom's now you can force your kids to wash, and your kids won't have any excuses saying they don't know how, because this machine makes washing so darn easy! GE Washer - Front Loader. 

I love my washer.  I don't have to spend so much time doing laundry on Sundays anymore.  My husband learned how to clean the trap out underneath so we do that about every three months and that's it.  I love it!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend got it for me on his sister's lowe's card cuz mine went.Mom wasn't sure how to work it love the lock feature so my handicapped son con only hit power button other ones he didn't mess with hey if power button is the only thing it don't lock i'll live with it.After i showed mom how easy it was to work i didn't have to show her again.Told her it is almost like the big ones at laundry mat.I guess larry won't be seeing me anymore blankets i can do at home save myself money.Just have tio watch how much tide i use and i'm good to much soap no good.

Hello, we purchased this one from a local salvation army. We moved into a new home and spent our appliance money on a refrigeratior. oops. Anyway, it is a great washer for only the $89 we purchased it for. The front load washers are defnintely not meant for the powder laundry detergent. I tried it as there was some powder laundry detergent on sale. The clothes came out sopping wet! With the liquid detergent that is meant for the front load washers it works like a charm. There is a con with this model, it does not have a very high capacity.

My GE front load washer was a dream at first but after it started breaking down constantly it became apparent it was nothing but trouble.  It cleaned well and was gentle on good clothing.  But after being repaired it was never the same again.  I guess there are good and bad ones, I just happened to get a dud.

this is the best waher I have ever had it dries my clothes all the way very super duper quiet i have never been happier please everyone go out and buy a few of them for family and friends. If you do not own one go hurry to the store asnd buy a new one today
