Got my belated Christmas present after my old GE pair died Friday night (4.5 hr drying cycle & still wet!)

So we went to Best Buy, Circuit City, & ended up at Lowes to get some caulk & noticed they have appliances. The gal was very helpful & she had Frigidaire, GE & Maytag front loaders. $1499 for Maytag was well over my needs & it looked the same size as the other 2. Both were stamped White Consolidated & the same model # inside. GE was $647 & Frigidaire was $699. Identical washers, different prices.
My washer is the 2001 addition, with a model # of WSHX208A1WW. 8 wash cycles, 4 temps, extra rinse.

Our basement has heater vents running overhead so stacking was out. The washer is up on a cement leveling stand that was constructed with the 1940 house. There is a drainage pipe between dryer & washer, so I didn't want a side opening dryer. Lowes had the "hamper door" dryers.

Free delivery, installation & old unit pickup & the best price, so we bought it. Delivered on Sunday morning & I was ready with the laundry that didn't dry & was pretty smelly. I shoved it all inside & there was still room! So we added the towels from the bathroom. Added 2 TBSP of Tide HE powder, set it on warm wash/cold rinse & away it went. I was amazed at the TV show in the laundry room. I sat on a chair in front of the glass window listening to the small amount of water used & the wash falling to the right, then to the left, then to the right, etc. Then it spins slightly when wash was over & runs water slightly before it stops and keeps some with the clothes for the rinse cycle.

The extra rinse cycle is good also for sensitive skin, so I leave it on ON. The most amazing thing is the FINAL SPIN!
The force & speed is incredible. The box of Tide HE danced on the top a bit. Then entire cycle the door is locked, a light tells you it is locked. When the cycle is over in 30 minutes, it turns off, signals it is done & unlocks the door.

Drying cycle was 7 minutes! That is how dry the clothes were after the final spin! Then I did my king size bedding;  bedsack & sheets & pillowcases were one load & 2 king size pillows & my twin size warming blanket was the other. I didn't even separate whites from darks in my haste & all came out beautiful in cold water!

Today I was bored & wanted to play with my toy of 4 days, so I did the carpets from around the house & even the car (all the rubber). Used cold wash & rinse, 2 TBSP of Tide HE & all were dry enough to put on the floor & let winter's heat dry them.

I AM SO HAPPY WITH MY TOYS!!! How many woman enjoy laundry day??? How many woman ask friends to bring their laundry over??? I love to show it off (get me commercial time, GE)

ALSO I have enough detergent that using no more than 2 TBSP a load will last a YEAR!

JUST GOT MY WATER & SEWER BILL FOR THE QUARTER. Sewer bill normally $58/quarter, now $21. Water Bill normally $35-28/quarter now $13! DO THE DANCE OF JOY!!!!! That is proof of the savings from the efficiency if the GE washer.

Thanks for the extra info about the lower bills! We know they use less water, but it's nice to see it in dollars and cents.
