It does a great job washing, but only gets an 8 because it has no gentle cycle. I didn't think they MADE a washer without a gentle cycle!! I ruined a tablecloth testing it to see if maybe it's just gentle all-around, but it's not. If you have anything that requires tender care, and MUST put it in the washer, I'd set it on the shortest cycle and hope for the best!! Energy Efficiency It is very speedy, quiet, and doesn't use as much as the last washer. Cleaning Time I can wash two loads in the time it takes to run the dryer once!! I love it!! Performance It would get a 10 if there were a gentle cycle... Ease of Use Very easy, only a few knobs, labeled bleach and fabric softener trays, and a cheat sheet to tell you how much of everything to use based on load size. Design Fits into our space wonderfully, I don't have to climb a ladder to reach into the bottom of the barrel (short limbs=short reaching distance), and everything is laid out in a simple, easy-to-use form. Durability Haven't had an issue yet, but I haven't tried it with anything heavy-duty yet.

The GE top load was our first washing machine purchase. We have been satisfied with it thus far. My favorite part is the ability to fill up the machine with the lid open while it fills with water. I've experience other machines that you had to fill it up with the clothes in first and then add detergent. Our clothes seem to be getting clean and the load time is pretty standard. So far we have been happy with the purchase.

We just purchased this washing machine to replace our former front load. After comparing this to the front load I have a new found respect for top load washers! This is a very simple machine to use and I love the "cheat sheet" that came with ours telling us water temps for types of loads, detergent amounts for load sizes, etc. Not rocket science but a good reminder is always nice to have! This washing machine seems to run through the cycles a lot faster than ones I've owned in the past and I love that it will hold my "extra large" loads. My clothes come out looking beautifully clean and smelling great! I love the many options that come with this washer. I am able to customize my washing cycle more specifically for my load than I am with other models. This is very important to be since I am very particular amount my laundry. My husband also appreciated that it is a pretty light washer compared to others. So far we have found no cons to speak of! Well worth the price we paid!

Have had this GE WHDRR418G Washer for 22 months (got it Feb. 2009).  Didn't really like it from the gitgo because it was so quiet.  I like to hear things.  And the agitation was so light and gentle.  I guess that is why it was so quiet.  Didn't like the whole Hydrowash thing.  Now, it seems to have stopped agitating.  Don't want to buy a new washer, though, so probably will have to get this one fixed.  Will never buy another GE product again - they have really gone down hill.   The jGE microwave I bought a year or so ago sounds like it's going to explode sometimes!

I have had the washer for two years & the motor has gone bad. The first two weeks I had the washer, had to call the repair technician several times & have the machine reset, then he had told me how to reset it myself.  It would not agitate or spin unless it was reset about every two weeks until finally the motor quit working.  I have had other washers that just wore out after 10 years + use but 2 years & the motor is worn out? I would not recommend this washer to anyone.

Big piece of junk. First week we had it the motor went out. 1 year and 1 month later the motor went out again. Now it's not  under warranty. The price of the motor is over half the cost of a new machine plus install. Save your money buy a stone and a rock or go to the laundry mat it's cheaper in the long run.

**GE Washer - WHDRR418G - our machine is barely 2 years old.  I put a load in last nite and expected to take it out this mornig and put it in the dryer.  The agitator/spin function does not work.   Everything is soaking wet and now has to be lugged to my mom's to finish up.**

GE products are the best I have used them for years they have become apart of my household, i can depend on GE products they come with  a good warrenty and they almost never every break down. I can wash a large load in my washing machine my clothes come out clean, not like those small washing machine that they have in wash houses. you can get your products serviced with no problem and customer rep are kind and very friendly, i would not use any other product. I will continue to use GE products i will recommend them to friends and family
