I only give this machine a 1 because I have to give it something!! Within a few months of getting this piece of garbage it would stop halfway through a cycle, the lights would start blinking and my clothes were sopping wet and soapy. I thought it was the load size but no matter the size it continued to have this issue. I called GE they said it was off balance and a "user issue, not machine issue". It was not off balance. I read the manual cover to cover but found nothing. I was at my wits end and about to call a repair man when I stumbled on a Google thread of people having the same issue. Someone on the thread indicated there was a hidden filter under the bottom cover, and to drain it. THIS WAS NOT IN THE MANUAL!! Although it's difficult to get to and drain, it did the trick. With that issue taken care of, I move on to the horrific smell, mold and mildew this machine builds up. As recommend I always left the door open after washing. That did NOTHING! I ran bleach through it once a week and it didn't help. I even wasted money on cleaning detergents. Nothing helped with the awful build up. It even stained our clothes with little black dots. With no fix for that I move on to the DESTRUCTION of our clothes. Often we would pull clothes out of the wash and it would have HOLES in them. It looked like a rat had been in the machine and chewed holes in our clothes. My last draw was the front gasket ripping and flooding the floor. I called GE and they said the replacement gasket was 175.00. A local repair company quoted us 90.00 for the part but we were not going to sink anymore money into this piece of trash and have replaced it with a good old fashioned top load and am so happy with my new WHIRLPOOL! I will NEVER buy another GE appliance and think GE should refund every customer that wasted their hard earned money on this machine!!! Cleaning Time Cycles take forever

First time owner of a front load HE washer. Not impressed, should not have to perform multiple cleaning and special processes to keep a washer working to norms. Using less water is not a savings if you have to run multiple times to get the clothes clean. Energy Efficiency Probably does reduce your water bill, but electric use may be higher due to longer cycles. Ease of Use Be prepared to learn a whole new language just to use the machine Design Just turning it on is a multiple step process. The door gasket needs cleaning regularly to avoid mildew. The detergent/softener dispenser is almost black in the back due to the mold growing before it was noticed by my spouse. Durability Tomorrow will be second service call in the six years we have owned it. One of the few times we have purchased an extended warranty. Glad we did, but will never buy another front load HE washer. Previous standard washer lasted at least ten years.

I have had the washer and dryer set since 2007. From the very start I had problems with the washer. Everything from the drum having to be replaced to the water pump quit working. The dryer worked fine for the first couple of years and now I have to use time dry 50 to 60 minutes to get things dry. But the washer is awful. Every 3 to 4 months it has something to happen. Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty or I would have had to replace the washer within the first year and a-half. Will never buy another GE appliance.

I love this washing machine. This is my first front loader and I have been very happy with it. Its large capacity which I need and it does the job. Clothes come out completely clean and rinsed well. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I also have the matching dryer, so the two together are fantastic. When I first got my washing machine I had to watch my first load through the door, hilarious I know but I just thought it was so cool. I'm strange, I actually like doing laundry and especially now with my great GE front load washing machine.

When my top load washer died suddenly, I was left scrambling for a new washer and dryer. I debated top load vs. front load and decided that front load was the way to go. I have to say it took some getting used to. I do not have the pedestals, so you do have to do some bending. My first uses of the washing machine got great results. I really felt that my clothes were a lot cleaner. I was mildly annoyed at the long washing times. There are however a lot of setting to choose from and you can customize temperature, spin speed, etc. This is a nice feature. I've had a couple instances of the cleaning cycle running and finishing but my clothes did not seem to be wet. The detergent goes in but the cycle did not run. I'm not sure if this was my fault that I did not close the door completely? I've also read from other reviews that a moldly smell appears if you do not leave the door open. I have not had that happen to me.  Not sure how I feel about this machine. I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm not sure I would recommend any front load machine.

The GE Super Capacity Front Load Washer was a great buy for my family. We had upgraded about a year ago to this washer and have happily found that it is, indeed, a super capacity washer. My family consists of two men and four women. Most of these women change multiple times a day. This washer has been able to handle all of our washing needs. It is efficient, quiet, and equipped with many features (the delay wash is my favorite feature because you can decide when to have the washer begin and so your clothes won't be sitting all wet for hours before you get home from work). The washer is also energy and water efficient and I have noticed the water bill go down over the last few months. We also have the matching dryer from GE and it works great as well. If you have a large family, go for the GE Super Capacity Front Load Washer. A tip: leave your door open when you are not using the washer. It will keep the inside from smelling...

I paid a lot of money for this washer and dryer set- I have had the service guys come out so far 3 times- I have had for 1 year now- And now a new problem is happening- the cycle stops in the middle of the wash- it does not finish rinsing and spinning out- so it leaves a ton of soap and water in the drum- It also makes your towels smell with mold- it is grose- This is the absolute WORST appliance that I have ever bought- so dissapointed with GE- I will never buy anything from them again.

I really love my new washing machine. Its a General Electric with the front loading door. I am rather short, and have had to stand on my tippy toes in order to get the clothes. But after a hernia operation It hurt to bend over the washer to get the clothes out. And beings it was a older washer we went looking for a new washer. We came across a furniture store that was going out of business so we stopped there. Before we left I had a new washer and dryer to match. The washer has a extra large door, and is very easy for me to put clothes in now. The washer actually washes longer than the older one, but dosent matter to me about the time. The door stays closed untill the washer stops. I also like that you can put your bleach, softer and soap in at the same time and the washer dispenses it at each cycle. They are all put in on the top of the machine. It is a very quiet machine, when we first used it I had to go in and see if it was working because I didnt hear it. I really like that feature. When it spins it does not shake the floor and we live in a mobile home so that was also a surprise. My son was about to throw out some rugs because of stains on them. He put them in the new washer and used the stain removable setting and , yep. all them stains came out. So we have been going thru the blankets etc. that have been packed away and putting them thru that cycle and it does take out the stains. It takes a long time of washing but it sure beats buying new things. The only color that was available for us was the red and I wasnt crazy about that but since we got  them, I actually like the color of it. All in All, Im very satisfied with this G E Washer.

I bought a GE large capaticity GE Front Load washer 3 years ago. 11 months later I was having problems where I would wash one load and the locked light would stay on the display for 24 to 48 hours later and would not let me was another load until that light went off. They sent a repair man out 4 times. They replaced the mother board twice and tried switching out a couple other things which didn't resolve the issue. Then my warrantee was out & I had to fight with NFM for a couple more months until they finally replaced it. The next GE Front Load washer lasted a little longer ( about 14 months) and is now doing the same thing the last one did. Don't buy one you will regret it!!!!
