GE Super Capacity Electric Dryer Review

"OK, so the nickname doesn't totally match. I've had this dryer for 6 yrs and it has been great. No wrinkles on the clothing if you remove them right away and it has a wrinkle mode if you can't get them right away. It also has a 15 min dewrinkle cycle that works great. Mine has the electronic board with push sensors and they are cracking. I hear the board is expensive, so I'll probably get a new machine when it goes, glad they don't have that anymore. I adore the fact it tells you how long before the load will be dry, you can plan your other things around that and know exactly when the clothes will be finished. After 6 yrs, I think the thermostat is blown because the dryer vent wasn't cleaned regularly enough. It was pretty clogged. The lint filter lets too much get by into the vent on the model I have, but I think most dryers have a bit of that problem. One of those hindsight things-I would have made sure everyone cleaned the vent after each use to try and avoid that, but the trap just doesn't fit tightly enough to catch all the lint in the trap. For the most part, I've been very pleased with the dryer, very little wear and tear on clothing using the auto dry sensor with more dry, less dry, etc. Always use more dry or the clothes will be slightly damp. Air dry is good for delicate drying but it is just that so it takes longer. I'd rather hang them up if they are that fragile (handwash). The stainless steel drum has taken a lot of abuse--my daughter loves those jeans with chains and they clunk around but no problems. King size comforters and spreads must be rearranged for it to be dried everywhere equally, but I imagine its the same for all. With the autodry, its so simple anyone can operate it. I can't fault the dryer for the thermostat since I'm the one who didn't clean the duct. Takes up less space than most, not the quietest, but it's not bad. When I replace it, I'll probably buy the same since I love the features and capacity, but don't want to pay for a front load. I'll pay more attention to the vent though."
