Purchased one in 2006. Repairman said to junk it! NOT GOOD!

I purchased a GE heavy duty top load washer in November of 2006.  We had to call a

repairman on July 21st because it wouldn't go into the spin cycle.  I had always purchased

KENMORE but I thought I would just try a GE. BIG MISTAKE!  The  repairman charged me

$45.00 to tell me that it would cost more to fix than to buy a new one.  We were told to

junk it.  The start button was a " touch button."  Sometimes it started, sometimes it didn't.

I will never buy another GE product.

Shouldn't this washer still be under warranty? If only 3 years old, they should cover it. Just a thought here.

WOW experiencing the same exact problem with my GE profile dryer; purchased in 2006, this summer stopped heating up, contacted Best Buy where purchased still under extended warranty they sent 3 repair men out who each time something else was wrong or "jigged" it to work for 1 week. finally contacted sears had been a fan of kenmore's for years - sears is now on their 3 rd visit trying to fix, only good news is if service trip today does not work I get $500 towards new dryer, going back to Kenmore!
