Over the last several weeks I've been getting more correspondence asking me to talk more about my notion of being Conveniently Green.
Simply put it's a way of improving the environment by making small incremental changes in the way you live or the products you buy that reduce the stress on...

Most HelpfulMy Dad was always big in lowing his electric bill and back then they had little sicks that you put in before you put your light bulbs in. They would take a 60 watt light bulb and dim it down to a 30...we had the worst reading lights in town. We would sneak them out when Dad wasn't looking just to see.
How times have changed. We have been switching over to the new GE bulbs and I like that they last longer and they are't dim and we can see.
My landlord put in Broadway lighting in the bathroom and those big round bulbs went out all the time and ran about the same amount as the GE does. I was...
review »I had heard from my brother and sister in law that these were great light bulbs. They are both very budget conscious like I am, however I didn't really believe if these bulbs would make that big of a difference and I wasn't too sure about spending $3 or $4 on one light bulb, when you could get an army of the regular light bulbs for that price. So I decided to try them... and I have to say, except for the special size light bulbs, I won't go back to regular light bulbs ever.
My bathroom is not very big, not tiny, but definitely not huge. I have a light above the vanity that takes four 60 watt...
review »We are converting our whole house to these new type of bulbs. They are supposed to be very efficient and use less energy. I suppose it is our immediate contribution to help fight high energy prices and global warming. It is a small step, but we feel that these bulbs, if used universally, will help reduce consumption of energy. As far as the bulb itself - it is bright! I caution any consumer to read the package directions as these bulbs are brighter than standard bulbs of the same wattage. Buy these bulbs at a lower wattage to get the same - or better - amount of light output.
These bulbs are great and I have noticed our electrical use going down since we switched to them. The big issue we have with them is that they take 20-30 seconds to reach full brightness.....the bulbs are not a good choice for a location where you turn on a light briefly (like a closet or a pantry). They are great for use in a kitchen or living area.
Better yet, Costco had deals on these not too long ago where our power company picked up about 90% of the cost of these making them a great value.
