GE Profile Dishwasher Reviews

This dishwasher has a sanitize feature and cleans dishes well. You do need to pre-rinse, and soak dishes with hardened or baked-on food, but dishes with few exceptions come out shiny and clean if we do this.

It has a fairly large capacity (though there are others much larger) and has easy-to-use controls with mulitple settings:

Rinse only
China crystal
Normal wash
Cookware
Anti-bacteria
Delay hours
Added heat
Heated dry

I always use the "anti-bacteria" with "added heat" settings, which work well! The delay is nice for washing at night, since this machine is somewhat noisy, but this has a drawback...

    My wife, kids & I recently moved to a newer home.  We decided to purchase all new GE Profile stainleess steel appliances that were delivered to us on8-31-07.  That would have been a good decision except for the dishwasher.  It happened to be the only 1 of 4 appliances that wasn't available right away.  We decided to order it & wait anyway.  It took over 1 1/2 months to arrive, so we were excited to finally get it.

    Let me first say that the other GE Profile appliances that we got are very nice.  The side by side fridge, the convection oven/range & the convection oven/microwave/range...

This is the absolute worst appliance that I have ever used.  Doesn't clean unless you wash everything on the pots & pans cycle with extra heat.  Doesn't dry well even when you use heat dry.  if you use both, the cycle is OVER 2 hours long!

 Any Energy Star savings you might have gotten is negated by having to use the longest cycle.

 Basket for silverware has openings that are too large, so smaller things fall flat in it.  Prongs on the top rack are too short to support bowls right.  Cross pieces of top rack don't allow glasses to sit securely and can fall to the side hitting against one another....

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher 18 months ago.  I wanted one that was fully integrated (no controls on the outside). I love the fact that it automatically dispenses the detergent. It does an ok job of cleaning, but I wouldn't say it is great.  Unfortunately, for us, we wasted our money and should have bought something else.  We have had a technician come 4 times for repairs.  On one of the occasions he put in a new pump because the water wasn't draining.  Since it was still under warranty, there was no charge.  The same problem has now reoccured and since the warranty on the diswasher...

Gee, my GE is a star! A triple Star...

I love that it has a large capacity load basket for those times when my dogs make a mess and I wind up having to use every rag in the house to clean up after them! Or, when I'm having to wash my blankets, I don't have to take them to the commercial washers in town--I can do them right here at home. And, because I'm extra sensitive to soaps and cleaners, I can do an extra rinse to be sure I get all the cleaners out of my clothes before putting them in the dryer. And, the fact that my washer is an Energy Saving device is good for me and the environment!

The control panel on this dishwasher has never worked, I have been unable to change cycles since it was about a month old.  It is stuck in regular wash, heated dry. So it does a horrible job washing and melts all my plastic. Absolutely useless! I called GE for service while it was still under warrenty and was routed through dozens of recorded messages and never able to speak with human being, nor have it fixed while under warrenty.  I can't afford to replace this appliance; so I have been handwashing everything first, then putting the dishes in super far apart,...

We purchased this dishwasher a few years ago.  Many parts have fallen off.  There are times when we cannot get it to turn on in any mode.  It currently leaks off and on.  We never know when it is going to leak.  It also does not empty the last bit of water when finished washing.

To be honest though, we have a large family and this machine is ran many days twice a day.  It has always been extremely quiet and continues to be.  It also holds a lot of dishes.  I would reccomend this dishwasher to someone who would not have to use it as much as we do.

The GE Profile Built-In Dishwasher is nice but not perfect.  In the 3.5 months that we've had and used it, the quiet nature of this dishwasher has slipped a bit.  The door doesn't close quite right and the dishes don't always come out the cleanest. 

After spending a small fortune on all new stainless steal appliances (all GE Profile), I feel as though we most certainly could have gotten all white or black and spent the excess money on something better.  They look great after they've all been cleaned but try keeping them that way with a two year old in the house!
