GE Profile Dishwasher Review

    My wife, kids & I recently moved to a newer home.  We decided to purchase all new GE Profile stainleess steel appliances that were delivered to us on8-31-07.  That would have been a good decision except for the dishwasher.  It happened to be the only 1 of 4 appliances that wasn't available right away.  We decided to order it & wait anyway.  It took over 1 1/2 months to arrive, so we were excited to finally get it.

    Let me first say that the other GE Profile appliances that we got are very nice.  The side by side fridge, the convection oven/range & the convection oven/microwave/range hood are all preforming very well.  The dishwasher on the other hand is a piece of crap.  The only thing it does well is look pretty.  We have had service techs out on 4 occasions.  On 2 visits the parts sent directly from GE were already defective.  So I had to set up another appointment & waste more of my time.  The main problem was that the door & seal leaked, so the entire inside door panel & seal had to be replaced.  This problem occured 4 months after we bought them.  It also DOES NOT CLEAN DISHES.  I tried to get Sears or GE to give us our money back for the dishwasher but no one would help me.

    We feel like we were sold a lemon.  The object of a high efficency dishwasher is to save money & energy.  This dishwasher does neither.  We have to prewash dishes before we put them in the dishwasher.  Even then they sometimes DO NOT COME CLEAN.

   We are not bitter people, but when you pay over $900.00 for something you expect it to work.  Why do GE Profile dishwasher owners not get a refund or an updated replacement that actually works?!

   Also, I read all the other reports on this dishwasher & can't believe the 5 star ratings!!!  Have you people ever owned any other brand of dishwasher?  I have and it (a Maytag) actually washed dishes.  I'm not kidding...you would put filthy dirty dishes, pots & pans, glasses & even baby bottles & nipples and they would all come clean.  Ahhhh... those were the days:)
