i got my GE Potscrubber 800 portable dishwasher from a used appliance store in 1999. I used it for a year, and then it spent the next nine years being moved all around the country and not being used. It spent all the time in a garage or shed or wherever else, as long as it was out of the way. I never got rid of it because portable dishwashers are really expensive and i wanted it in case I moved to a place with no dishwasher.
Well, January 2009, we moved to a newly constructed apartment complex where they cheaped out and didn't put dishwashers in. So, Potscrubber came out of retirement.
It works just as well as in 1999. Portable dishwashers never do as good of a job as the built-in ones. This one is pretty average for being so old. The dishes need to be rinsed, and in mine you need to use gel detergent and not powder, but all things considered, I got some good value from this thing! I think it wastes more water than a newer, built-in one.
Pitted against today's models, it's probably not so good. But mine does the job I need it to do. The dishes are clean and my hands aren't pruney. That's a win in my book.
