While I was doing the walk through before buying my house I noticed the microwave door had a busted hinge. I pointed it out and told them I wanted it replaced before I would buy the house. They replaced the old one with a brand new GE Spacemaker, which matched all the other kitchen appliances.

This little microwave looks great and works fantastic as well. It was tied into the vent so I am able to utilize the 2 speed exhaust fan that it has. There is also auto defrost as well as 6 pre programmed cooking buttons. You can warm a plate of food, gravy, soups, tea or coffee and it is all done by hitting 1 button. Another great feature that I use very often is the ability to stop the turntable when the bowl or dish is just too big to turn while cooking.

I can use the timer for food in the oven and still use the microwave to cook something else and both timers will work independently with 2 separate finish sounds so I know which one is done. Besides the 2 speed exhaust fan I also have a light with 2 brightness levels. One to use as a cooking light and also as a night light.

I had one slight problem that surfaced about 6 months after I bought the house. It seems they forgot to install the light guards on the 2 bulbs and one of them blew out. I couldn't see the model number of the light bulb so I broke out the paper work for it and found the 2 light covers in the package. I replaced the bulb and installed the 2 light covers and have not had a problem since.

I do wish it were a bit bigger but being under the cabinet makes that a bit impossible. I am spoiled as the old microwave I used to have was HUGE and now having a smaller one has taken some getting used too. I do love that it is not taking up any counter space though and am getting used to it. For me it is right at eye level and I love it.

Bottom Line

I have always had good luck with GE products and should I ever need to replace any of my kitchen appliances I will go with GE, I like the clean look and smooth lines they have. I also never have any trouble locating parts when the need arises. They are priced fairly and I can get service for them easily.
