This GE Profile cooktop does what it is supposed to do without the "wow." We needed a cooktop with a downdraft and there were very few choices. This was the one we ended up with. It looks very high end. It has one side of the burners with a higher heat rating than the other side. I typically cook on that side and never burn anything (ie not super duper hot). Many people like cooking with gas; I have decided I am not one of them. Either the btu is too low or just as a rule it takes FOREVER to boil a pot of water. (maybe 15 minutes for a 2 qt. pot). The knobs are cheap plastic but have not cracked. Why they are not real stainless like the rest of the pan, I am not sure. Like any cooktop with ridges, this is a very hard cooktop to keep clean. The downdraft constantly gets dirty and is next to impossible to properly clean as are all the ridges between the burners and lip of the unit. Otherwise it is a fine cooktop.
