GE Electric Dryer

4

We bought this electric dryer after our 20 year old set of Kenmore washer and drier bit the dust. After having the last set for so long it was nice to have a new set and appliances had come a long way in that time. We purchased our new drier from Lowes. I find that this drier runs quieter than the old one and holds more clothes. An average load takes anywhere from 35 to 45 minutes to dry. I also like the design of the lint trap in the door versus the top of the appliance. Another nice feature is the wrinkle reduction feature that the clothes keep rotating for a few minutes at the end of the cycle instead of stopping and setting there wrinkling. You can set the buzzer to let you know when your clothes are finished and even adjust the loudness of the buzzer. After about two years of use the timer started to work sporadically then all of a sudden corrected itself. Then about 6 months later broke all together. You could smell that it was getting hot. My husband was able to get the numbers and order the replacement timer and put it in himself saving us a service call. Overall I would say that this appliance is a mid priced electric drier, dependable and easy to use. The only problem is that the durability is questionable. We felt that we had timing problems and had to replace parts awfully early on in the life of this appliance and have to wonder if it is sign of things to come. The matching washer we have had no problems with what so ever.

Good Dryer

4

I purchased this dryer when my previous one quit. This is the second GE clothes dryer I have used. The first worked very well and had a long life. I moved frequently and it held up to the moves very well. It is a standard looking dryer with just the features I needed. It is easy to set, has an easy to clean filter and works on all setting. Load Capacity I have used it for some very large loads. I have several large quilts and it handles them with ease . I do have to take out and reload so they do not ball up and only dry on the outside of the ball but that would be true with any dryer. Performance It handles anything I want it to do and does it very well. It has a lot of power and does not take long to dry most loads. Ease of Use Easy to load and unload. The lint filter is easy to clean and is in a very convenient place. Durability As this is not very old I really can only use my old GE dryer to speak to this. That dryer lasted over 20 years and worked well for all 20. Design This is the standard design for a dryer and has been for years. The only dryers with a different look are those with the HE washers. I like this design just fine and even though I have a HE washer I stuck with this design. It was also much cheaper than the HE dryers.

Not Fancy, But It Works fine.

This dryer, isn't the most amazing/fanciest dryer of them all but it suits my needs just fine. I have had this dryer for about 2 years and I haven't had any problems with it. I'm able to dry a pretty good sized load in this dryer in about 30-40 minutes. This is a nice simple dryer, and I got it at a reasonable price. The dryer that I had before this dryer was EXTREMELY noisy, So I definitely appreciate how quite this one is. The drying cycles on this machine are plentiful and they suit my needs. There's a bright light inside of the dryer that I've never had to replace. I like the location of the lint filter, I clean it out after each use and I have no trouble removing and replacing it.

Does the job

4

This is a decent dryer that does the job well. It's a pretty basic dryer so it's good if you just need something to get the job done. My biggest wish is that the door opened downward instead of to the right. My washer is to the right so loading the dryer is a bit of an inconvenience. If the door opened downward, I think it would be more versatile and compatible with various set ups. Other than that, it's a dryer. It gets the job done. You may have to run it twice if you're doing a super heavy load like towels and jeans. Otherwise, it does a good job at drying general clothing. Design I wish the door opened downward rather than to the right. I think it would accommodate various set ups better.

Nice priced dryer

I bought this dryer since the cost of the new dryer was about the same as the parts to repair my 13 year old dryer. I've had several issues with it since... First the "Start" switch broke, and the dryer would not start. Then the thermostat broke, and had to be replaced. I cannot keep a bulb in the dryer. They will only last about 1 day, so I just quit replacing them. Now the plastic is broken inside the door of the dryer, and my daugher's spagetti strap tops catch in the crack, and the straps end up getting ripped off.

Terrible dryer; takes forever and creates dust

2

When our old Kenmore dryer broke down after eight years or so of usage, we decided to buy a GE electric dryer and after using it a couple of times, we realized we should have stuck to Kenmore. Not only does it take over two hours to dry a normal load of clothes, a lot of dust also forms in the dryer. Lint gets all over the clothes (rarely happened with the old Kenmore dryer) and we would find layers of dust lining the dryer. After cleaning it, the dust would form again the next time we use it. A dryer that gets dust all over your clothes seems to defy the purpose of using a washing/drying machine (which is to clean clothes). I wouldn't recommend buying this dryer because honestly, it would be a poor investment (if we didn't have to buy another dryer, dumping this thing would be very tempting).

GE DWSR463EGWW Electric Dryer

4

We purchased this dryer because it was a great price at the time we had to get a new washing machine. The GE DWSR463EGWW Electric Dryer matches out washing machine perfectly and has a very sleek modern look. It is taller than our old dryer which I like. It is also energy star compliant which we look for in all of our new appliances that we purchase. It has 7 cubic feet of drying space. I really like the interior light which our old machine didn't have. There are plenty of heat selections and different cycles for what you are drying including the automatic sensor, which I really like for loads of towels or sheets, and a separate drying timer. It dries cloths a lot faster than any dryer I have had in the past. We have the habit of throwing cloths in for a few minutes to get wrinkles out and it works like a charm. This dryer is very quiet as well which is nice since out laundry is right by the kitchen so you can hear it throughout the front of the house. I would highly recommend this dryer!

Its a good dryer for the money.

I have had this dryer since my husband moved in about five years ago. We really like it. It is not a fancy dryer with all the steam, see through door, and all of that, but it gets the clothes dry without any trouble. I like that it has a gentle setting and four four heat settings. Hot, medium, low, and fluff. One thing about this dryer that I would like to change is that it takes at least twice as long to dry a load of clothes as our washer takes to wash them. This means laudry takes much longer. Overall, though, I would buy a General Electic dryer again. We use it a lot and have never had to call a repair person or anything like that. I recently vacuumed out the lint area and that improved its drying speed a little.

GE Electric Dryer is awesome!

I love my GE Dryer! It is the best dryer that I have ever seen. I love the fact that the lint tray is in the dryer versus on top of the dryer. This way I have to clean it out each time I do laundry and I don't have to remember to clean out the lint tray on top of the dryer. I like the way that this dryer is set up and it dries clothes awesome! It's also quiet so I don't have to worry about it waking the baby up when she's sleeping. I love this dryer and I think that it's a great dryer if you just got your first place or if you are just looking for a dryer that works wonderful and is quiet. What's really nice is if you live in an apartment, townhouse, or condo this dryer keeps it quiet so that it won't disturb your neighbors. I have not had any issues with this dryer!

Very happy with this GE Dryer!

When our washer went on the fritz 6 months ago, we ended up finding a slightly used washer and dryer set. This is the dryer that we got. It had been used for a year. The family we got it from was very happy with its performance, although they were moving out-of-state and decided they didn't want to move these with them. I love that it is fairly quiet. Its also by far the best high capacity dryer I've ever used. It does a great job of drying clothes without taking a long time. I usually set it on the automatic sensor setting. The design of this dryer is sleek and the panel controls area looks modern and clean. One thing that I'm not crazy about is the lint trap. The design of it doesn't seem to catch everything. Once I pull out the lint trap, I usually have to clean and clear out the rest of the area around where the actual lint trap was. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this model. It has done a great job for us the past 6 months.
