GE Dishwasher Quiet Power 3 Review Summary

When the best reviewers can opine about the GE D Dishwasher Quiet Power 3 is, "Hey, at least the dishes are clean," that's a powerful statement in and of itself. Reviewers understand it isn't a "high-end dishwasher," but they would expect it to last at least three to five years, instead of a few months. "Expensive piece of junk." Everyone reports having service out multiple times for this dishwasher. For a unit called "Quiet Power," it is found to be "surprisingly noisy." The top rack can be hard to push in and pull out, even when empty. Additionally, users report the dishes on the top rack are often speckled with food when they're done, despite trying "every dish detergent under the sun." Reviewers urge that if you're considering the GE Dishwasher Quiet Power 3, "Do not buy it – keep looking!"

My new condo had the GE Quiet Power3 dishwasher installed. For the most part, it's a good unit. Ultimately, all you need from a dishwasher is clean dishes, right? The problem is that one cycle takes a few hours and it's surprisingly noisy for a unit called "Quiet Power." The door is hard to close and... review »

I purchased the GE Quiet Power 3 dishwasher in Oct. 2007.  I hate it.  The top rack is extremely hard to push in and pull out even when empty.  I had three service calls by January 2008 just to get it manageable.  Now the rack is hard to push in and pull out again.  I have another call in for service. ...

I would suggest to keep looking for a dishwasher and not purchase the GE Quiet Power3. We recently purchased a new condo and this was the dishwasher that came with the unit. We have nothing but bad things to say about it. This is definately not a quiet dishwasher as the "Quiet Power 3" name states. The dishes don't always get clean and NEVER are dry when the cycle is through. Also the cycle takes a long time to complete. The door is also hard to close and the racks aren't the easiest to pull in/out.

We are currently looking to replace this dishwasher after only 4 months of using it!

BEst Buy Purchase...  Lasted exactly 14 months. (was repaired once at two months) GE should be ashamed to seel this product.  I grant you this was not a "high end" dishwasher, but you would expect it to last at least 3 to 5 years.

VERY DISAPOINTED

We've had this "washer" for less than 1.5 years. Had the OEM repairman out FIVE times while it was still under warranty. He finally fixed it in the 12th month by replacing Everything. Now it won't start because the plastic housing around the Door Safety switch (which is held on by plastic snaps) has broken off completely on one side. The switch is completely internal and in no way could be damaged by the user. This is just another example of VERY poor engineering and manufacturing practices. Do Not Buy this "washer".

My dishwasher was recalled and I made the mistake of letting a refund make my decison on which dishwaser maker to choose,  My time was limited and I did not go online to make comparisons nor to get other opinions.  In addition, my funds were very low at that time so I went with the best price that I could afford and the name brand I had to choose.  Bad choice.  Make sure you take some time to select what amenties you would like to have and then compare models.

Bought this new and have been extremely disappointed in it.  Doesn't clean dishes well at all.  Stuff on the top rack is often speckled with food, especially inside tall glasses.  Top rack doesn't roll easily, even though it's just a few months old.  I have tried every dish detergent under the sun and can not find one that works well in this dishwasher.  Even liquid detergent doesn't rinse fully off the door during a pots and pans cycle.  This dishwasher is only a few months old and I'm wondering if I need to call an appliance repair specialist who can help me troubleshoot why this dishwasher...

Our unit was two years old and got run at least once a day. It was easy to load, cleaned well, quiet, and had a nice range of cycles. Now it is a big white plastic boat anchor since the control board failed. Technician turned out to be a client of mine. He advised me that replacing the control board after the warranty expired could run $250+ and that the replacement boards have notoriously short life spans. He recommended buying a new unit from another manufacturer as the best use of my money.

General Electric really screwed up this time. Is this crap made in China? It sure as hell does not wash dishes or dry them for that matter. Everything everyone else said about the top shelf is true - No one who gives a damn would ever but this thing and giving it to a friend would be nothing short of insulting.

This dishwasher is very nice in that it definitely cleans the dishes well and is extremely quiet (can barely hear the dishwasher running). The biggest problem is the top shelf rack is very poorly made. If you fill the top rack, over time it will loosen and you will have a hard time closing it. For our next dishwasher, we will be sure to get metal racks instead of plastic.

Please do not buy this dishwasher.  Since November I am now waiting for trip number three from the repair man.  Top rack is junk and it's already been replaced twice.  This morning my dishes came out dirtier than they went in.  Drying is not something that happens with this unit.

I got my first dishwasher replaced after having a serviceman in 5 times to repair my original model.  Now, the second model, (slightly different, but doing the same thing), doesn't work either!  I am going to start calling about it today!  I have figured out what it is doing, however.  It runs with barely any water in it, sometimes not even enough to spin the wash arms around.  It just trickles out of the holes, and isn't doing anything but making a lot of noise and heating up, baking the food particles onto the dishes in the heat.  I believe this is why many other people, as well as myself,...

We bought this dishwasher a year and a half ago during our kitchen remodel.  Compared to our old dishwasher, it is quiet, but that's probably the only positive thing I have to say, except that I love the delay start feature.  Everything people say about the top shelf is completely true.  It is very hard to push in and pull out.  I don't think it gets my dishes very clean.  I have to pull the rinse agent cap off with a pair of pliers...seriously.  The worst part of all is that there is rust coming through on both the top and bottom racks, and it's even in places where nothing ever touches...

I bought my GE Dishwasher Quiet Power 3 in the Fall of 2007.  It looks great in my kitchen but it is an expensive piece of furniture.  It has never done a good job of cleaning the dishes.  I am frustrated every time I use it and remove dirty dish after dirty dish.  I have succumbed to washing everything in the sink by hand.  Kind of defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher.  I only hope I have better luck next time finding a decent GE dishwasher as I would like to match all my other stainless GE appliances.  Definately would NOT recommend this specific dishwasher.

We bought our house brand new about 18 months ago and this dishwasher came with it.  This dishwasher is terrible at cleaning dishes and has recently quit working completely.

At first we used it a lot, but that ended quickly because it was just a waste of efffort since we basically had to rewash about 30% of each load anyway.  We would still use it on occasion and eventually it pretty much stopped working at all (three months ago).

So after 15 months of use, this piece of junk basically became an overpriced dish strainer when we had large loads of dishes.
