GE Dishwasher - Nautilus Convertible Review

To the Point

My daughter and son-in-law wanted a portable dishwasher for their apartment in NYC. They just moved and have a built-in dishwasher. We are getting their portable to replace ours. In any case we all love it. I did the research on portable dishwashers for them when they decided to buy one. This is the Nautilus Convertible Dishwasher by General Electric Model # GSC3400J.

A Closer View

It comes in two colors – white and black. Theirs (I’ll use the present tense since it is now in their storage room in Connecticut.) is white. It isn’t inexpensive coming in around $550.

It has several wonderful features. The first is the laminate wood top which is a light wood grain color. Not only is the top very pretty but it is very functional.

It measures about 36 inches high by 27 inches deep by 25 inches wide.

The Nautilus is Energy Star qualified. It has five wash levels including a wash power scrub system; it has a crystal cycle which I thought would be great for their fragile wedding gifts. It has a delay start which I thought was a great idea.

The cycles are pots and pans, heavy wash, normal wash, china/crystal, hot start and heated dry. The knob is conveniently located. On it there is the start delay. It shows numbers 1 to 6 which are hours.

I really have liked this function when I’ve been there. The machine is quiet but their apartment was small. What we’ve done so we don’t forget to do the dishes is set it up to start while we are sleeping. Then we can watch television without any noise from it at all.

Inside there is a jet dry dispenser; one covered detergent holder and one open detergent holder.

What I like the most is that it is quiet and I love the top and bottom baskets. The bottom has two large spaces and four small spaces to accommodate all sorts of items. I really like the utensil holder. It has two areas which fold down to keep knifes in or nicer silverware that they don’t want touching each other.

I love the top basket. It is very deep. Mine is not as deep and that is a great feature.

It is very easy to clean. I wash the top with soap and water. The outside I'll either use soap and water or I'll spray some Fantastic on the front and sides.

G.E. has a limited one-year warranty on this machine.
