I consider a dishwasher to be a basic necessity (I hate washing dishes) and was glad that my apartment had a new GE dishwasher when I moved in. After using it for more than a year I can say this isn't the best dishwasher I've ever used, but it is not bad either.

 Features

I have GE Dishwasher model# HDA2100N, which is a standard-sized built-in dishwasher. The controls are very easy to use - it even has am old-fashioned knob control! It features the following wash cycles:

  • Hot Pre-Wash
  • Heavy Wash
  • Normal
  • Water Saver
  • Rinse Only
  • Drying

The exterior of my model is black and looks decent. Inside there is just one spray arm in the bottom though. Because of that the rack's prongs are set further apart so the water can spray up to the top and capacity is not the best. The silverware tray is in the front and holds quite a bit though.

My Experience

This GE dishwasher performs pretty well, as long as there is no baked-on or stuck-on food particles. It gets the dishes clean on a Normal cycle, which runs about 110 minutes, which seems pretty long. I rarely use the other features since I wash pots and pans by hand and let them air dry.

One drawback is that it's somewhat noisy. I guess they skimp on sound proofing in these lower priced models?  Anyway, since I'm currently renting I did not buy this General Electric appliance, but if I needed a basic, decent dishwasher I would consider this model.
