I bought this dryer and the matching washer from Home Depot. I worked hard to find a good deal - the appliances were on sale, plus I had a 10% off card, plus I opted for free home delivery and removal of my old washer and dryer, and to top things off, GE was offering a gift card for $75 for my next purchase at Home Depot. Overall, I only spent $825 on the pair, which I think is a good deal.

About the dryer itself, it's a fairly good dryer, although not top of the line (I knew that before I bought it, however, so I wasn't expecting anything different.) Looks wise, it's a fairly bland machine, but it has a lot of great options when it comes to heat and care for your clothes. My biggest beef with it is the fact that the buzzer is not adjustable (why don't they include that option??? It's not like it would be a terribly expensive thing to add in!) and it is much too quiet for me to hear. By necessity, my washer and dryer are in the basement, and there is no possible way for me to hear it when it finishes. This means I often forget that it is down there, and will leave clothes in the dryer for hours, so I have a wrinkled mess by time I pull them out. I have to then restart the dryer to get rid of the wrinkles, which is a waste of electricity.

I also wish that the drum was tilted, so when I put clothes in, they stay in easier instead of falling out. This isn't a huge concern, however.  Last but not least, when I push the door closed, the top will click into place, but the bottom of the door does not.  I have to push the bottom of the door closed with my knee, which is annoying.  The dryer is new (I've only had it a couple of weeks) and so perhaps I just need to get used to how it works and figure out how to close the door with just one push.  So far, I haven't been able to do it successfully.

As long as you're not expecting a "Wow!" looking dryer, and you don't need a loud buzzer, I would say that this dryer will work great for your household.
