Cools well but fan tends to stick

3

I have owned this air conditioner for about 4 years now and just like the yard needs raking and the flowers need planting, I have to open up this air conditioner and force the fan inside to move. Every winter it sticks or seizes up and it will not budge until I put quite a bit of pressure on the fan blades. It also happens in the summer after a heavy rain so it must be rusting just enough to cause it to stop spinning freely. I have tried lubricating it but that did nothing to help this problem. It does cool very well(not as good as my Frigidaire though!) and easily cools half of my house. I just wish GE would fix some of the issue with their recent air conditioners and start paying closer attention to the quality of the products they are selling.

GE Thru-Wall Air Conditioner saves money!

The GE Thru-Wall Air Conditioner is great for the price especially when considering all of the energy saving options that are included with it. I live in CHarlotte, NC on the third floor of an apartment complex. Summers are hot. Temperatures will rise over 100% and humidity is very high as well. I placed this unit in our master bedroom which is a large room with a walk in closet and bathroom attached. It does a great job. I must take it out and replace it in the winter because it does not have a heating option but I knew that upon purchasing it. There are 10 cooling settings for how much cold air you want and there is also a energy saving option for just using the unit as a fan to circulate air. There is also a great feature, an energy saving button, that brings the machine down to a lower setting if it is overworking itself. The machine is quiet and it is also easy to clean. There is one filter panel that easily removes itself.

Keep it cool

General Electric air conditioners work great. I bought my grandmother this unit and she loves it.  It was easy to install and quite easy to use.  It has a slide out filter for easy cleaning. It has an energy savings option.  It has ten cooling settings.  The air conditioner has a fan cycle switch for reduced energy consumption. It is a slide out chassis.  It cannot produce heat and it does not have a remote function.  If you want to stay cool this is the air conditioner though.  The sleek design and color will look good in any room and can also be used in your hot kitchen.  If you want to stay cool for a good price this is the unit for you.  General Electric is a responsible and dedicated company and they usually have good warranty policies.  The air condition is energy star rated as well so you will not be hurting the environment.  Every summer people are effected by the heat especially young children and the elderly, proper cooling is important

Great for the summer, but cooling capacity is small.

Being from Florida, I was use to central AC.  As soon as I moved to New England though, I noticed that it was a thing of the past.  So, in desperate attempts to stay cool (since the heat was the main reason I LEFT the Sunshine State!) we bought this Air Conditioner from GE.   It cools wonderfully, however, it only cooled one room in our apartment.  Because of this little fact, I often had to retreat to that room and cool off throughout the day.  I wish the cooling capacity was higher, but maybe that's because I grew up with central Air Conditioning all my life!  I dread next summer for fear of being a prisoner of the bedroom again if we can't afford a better (or more powerful) Air Conditioning system.   So, if unlike me, you are use to only having one room to cool off in, this one works amazing well!  However, if you want one that will keep your whole apartment (or at least a couple of rooms) cool, this might not be the best fit.
