After years of cooking the Thanksgiving turkey in the oven, we decided to try something new and use a roaster oven this year. The appeal was that we wouldn't have to heat up the entire house, and we would leave the entire oven open for cooking side dishes. I had never used a roaster before and was unsure of how it would cook the turkey, but it was delicious. The meat literally fell off the bone while we were trying to carve it. The GE Roaster Oven is easy to operate, easy to clean, and doesn't take up a great deal of room on the counter. It plugs in to a regular electrical outlet and holds a turkey up to 20 pounds. We sprayed the bottom, sides, and inside of the lid with a non-stick cooking spray before we began. The turkey sits right inside (we even stuffed ours) and you pour a few cups of water into the bottom. You can set the temperature on the roaster, just like you would an oven. Also like an oven, you don't want to lift the lid a lot while you're cooking or else the heat will escape. But you can do so every now and then just to see how things are coming along. Although the house didn't get hot like it does when the oven is on, it still smelled amazing while the turkey cooked. And like I said, the turkey was amazing! The meat fell off the bone while we were trying to carve it, and there was literally no turkey wasted.

When I mentioned to my mother in law that I wanted to cook Thanksgiving one year, I was wondering what her reaction would be. Thanksgiving had always been "her" holiday, but I knew that she had other issues going on that she was dealing with and wanted to try and give her a break. I mentioned that I was going to see about borrowing someones roasting pan. Was I ever surprised when she bought me the GE Roaster Oven to use. She said she got it at an unbeatable price (but she wouldn't tell me how much) and just couldn't pass it up. It is a wonderful appliance and did an awesome job on my turkey! It cooked my turkey faster than I had anticipated, but none the less, it turned out great. I love the sleek black color. It doesn't show stains as well as white ones do, and the pan is removeable for easier cleaning. It even came with a rack that can be removed and has adjustable temperatures for accurate cooking. I have used my roaster for cooking pork loins, large roasts, stews, and I am getting ready to use it to make something to take to a benefit dinner. A big "thank you" to my awesome mother in law!

I used this GE roaster many times for different thing such as ham, pot roasts, ribs, ect. It cooks perfectly and 99% of the time the meat is so moist! The other 1% is probably my fault lol...I enjoy the meat rack that comes with it! It helps cut the fat! I also like that the GE roaster is pretty easy to clean! The one downfall is the size! It takes up a lot of room in the cabinet leaving less room for other portable cookers! Overall I love this product and the price was great for the quality! I thank my mom all the time for getting me this GE roaster as a Christmas gift! If you dont already have one I highly recommend you get one! If not for everyday use then for Holidays at least! It also fits a nice size turkey! Although with the turkey I couldnt fit the lid on but I just covered it tightly with aluminum foil and cooked it that way! It still came out very moist and delicious! Buy one, put on your Holiday wishlist, either way I recommend you get one!!

This isn't something we use often but when we do use it we love it.  It's normally used at Thanksgiving to roast our turkey.  It's the prefect size and doesn't take up too much of the counter space while we're trying to get other foods ready that day.  I also love that it frees up the oven so I am able to bake other things in there but it does a great job cooking the turkey thoroughly and seems to do as well at cooking it as the oven does.  I have also used it for other meats like shredded pork when I am hosting a larger gathering.  I love how it can keep it warm without over-cooking the meat and drying it out too much (I do have to add a little moisture to it to help) but I can just keep it on the counter top and people can dig into it as they please.  It's a little bulky and since we don't use it most of the time we kept the box to keep it in in the basement.  Other than that, we have all gotten a good amount of use from it and it's been on par with it's performance every time.  It's similar to a crockpot but on a much larger scale.

Very easy to use. Easy to clean. Multitasking is easy with this. I bake in this thing and that is a plus. If you wanted you could use the inside slide out pot to transport a turkey dinner to loved ones house after it has cooled. If you are using the inlet pot for a turkey or something neat like that you can use the inside of the oven with smaller pot to continue cooking with it. This thing is a definite buy!

The GE Roaster Oven with buffet inserts is the best thing for busy holidays.  You can cook your 20-25 lb turkey in it, then use the buffet insert to keep the potatoes, veggies, and the gravy warm for as long as needed.  All pieces are easy clean up and it all nest together to be stored away.  The GE Roaster Oven can be used everyday, too.

I recently purchased a GE Roaster Oven (model no. 169152) thinking that it might come in handy for cooking and baking during the holidays.  I love to cook and have a small kitchen where space is at a premium.  Not only is the roaster well made, but is a good sized appliance that I can store just about anywhere... that is, if I didn't use it all the time. I was a Steward/Cook on an offshore drilling rig for a number of years, so, yes I know a thing or two about cooking.  However, I'm now disabled and have mobility problems.  The roaster is convenient, easy to handle and use even with the condition that I have. The first time I used it I was surprised at how well it cooks.  As it cooks, it keeps the steam in so there is no need to wrap everything in foil to prevent it from drying out.  The turkey I prepared for Thanksgiving was tender and juicy and the rolls were golden brown.  Since then, I have been using it just about nightly and find it perfect for two-person meals.  It heats up faster and cooks more efficiently and better than my big oven.  I think it will pay for itself over and over in what I'm going to save on my heating bill. I highly recommend this product.

I just got this GE Roaster Oven before Thanksgiving. We were making both a ham and a turkey so this was perfect and as a bonus I still had room in my oven for all of the side dishes. We made the ham in the roaster and it came out very tender and cooked up perfectly. I've since used this roaster for cooking several things including a pork roast and even a pot of beans using the left over ham! Everything comes out great and I'm very happy with it. In the past, I couldn't have cooked up that big ham bone in the beans because the crock pot wouldn't be large enough to hold everything. With this big roaster, the ham and beans were easy to cook and tasted wonderful. A friend that recommended it said she's even used hers to bake bread! I'm looking forward to being able to bake all summer without heating up the whole house. This is a great deal. The price is very reasonable and the possibilities are endless. You can't beat this GE Roaster Oven for over all value. I highly recommend it.
