How easy is this for a computer game?  Connect Scrabble tiles in any direction to make words and build your score using bonus squares and high value letters.  Disable bombs by making words of a certain length to keep them from exploding.  These rules form the basis of the computer game, Scrabble Blast, by Funkitron.  www.funkitron.com

I have been an avid Scrabble player since I played with my parents at the age of 12.  I have always enjoyed vocabulary, word games, and linguistics in general.  As many people who play the game can attest, Scrabble is the ultimate game for people who appreciate the beauty of words.

The only drawback to the Scrabble board game is that it is not suitable for solitary play.  I have a friend in another state who enjoys a good game of Scrabble, but closer to home, I have trouble finding an opponent interested in playing.  Therefore, a computer game like Scrabble Blast gives me the opportunity to play three separate word games to my heart's content.

Scrabble Blast is quite different from the original game.  The tiles appear randomly on the board, and the player has to build a word by connecting letter tiles.  The fun comes from using the letter on the ticking bomb before it makes its way down to the bottom of the screen and explodes.  Sometimes there are no good letters near the ticking bomb to create a word.  However, there are times when you can connect a ten-letter word with multiple bonus points, and you feel like you have accomplished world peace!  It's a heady feeling to win a round and challenge yourself to bigger and better words.

The official Scrabble dictionary is built into the program, and all words are defined when you play them.  The game tracks your top scores, plays, and rank and saves a game in progress so you can go back to it later.

Scrabble Blast can be played on your desktop or in full screen mode.  Technical requirements are: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP; 500MHz processor; 64 MB RAM Sound Card; and SVGA Graphics Card.
