Great Camera for the Price

5

The Fujifilm S5100 is a great camera. It uses 4 AA batteries, so you can recharge them in the house or on the go with a separate battery charger, but when you really need batteries you can stop at any store and grab more for when your shooting lots of pictures in a short time. It has a removable XD card for storing pictures you take and can even connect via USB cable to your computer to transfer pictures that way. It also can connect to your television and show your pictures to a group of people. Image Quality The image quality is great for a 4 megapixel camera. It also has a built in 10x optical zoom lens for getting those close up shots of nature. It also comes with an adapter ring for attaching a higher zoom lens to it. Ease of Use This camera comes with an auto shoot feature but also has all the manual controls for getting great shots. It also does videos. Durability This camera has held up pretty good through the years. Haven't dropped it yet though. Battery Life It shoots a lot of pictures on 4 AA batteries and can change them out when you need to keep going without buying an expensive spare battery like other cameras. Portability This camera is somewhat portable, but nothing like the slim point and shoot cameras.

my favorite camera!

OK. i feel i should preface this one with the fact that i once aspired to become a professional photographer. took classes in HS and college. (i kinda got a little knocked up & life went a totally different direction for me.) So i feel i'm fairly knowledgeable about cameras, but keep in mind, my schooling on the subject ended in 1999. so i'm totally self-taught on digital photography.   anyway. the Fujifilm S-5100. awesome camera. i'm big on fuji. i think they have excellent lenses and make great 35mm film. when i use my 35mm camera, i use fuji lenses and film. i'm loyal like that. so, being loyal, my review might be a little slanted. it's hard to be objective about the things you love! the S-5100, that all being said, is outdated. we bought ours years ago when it first came out. it's only 4 mega-pixels, if that tells you anything. but honestly, if you're not a professional, you don't need more than 4! 8x10 photos look amazing with 4 mega-pixels. and i don't know many average users who print larger than 8x10's. So- 4 mega-pixels, video capability, easy on the batteries, great lens, all the functions you could need, what more could you want? it's got 10 photo modes; like night, action, and portrait mode. it has 2 timer modes, and this cool action-shot mode that takes several successive photos. that mode rocks when you're trying to capture a baby. babies are wiggly little things, and the multi-shot mode takes a bunch of snaps in a row, so you'll almost always get a good shot of the rugrat. the menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. the S 5100 is a near-SLR. i've found it fulfills all the basic functions of a D-SLR. you can attach lenses to it, and you can manually adjust the settings (f-stop and the like) but it's nowhere near as expensive as even an entry-level D-SLR!  i really could write a novel on how happy i am with this camera. it's been dropped and left in the sun, and it's still kickin'! **Bottom Line: for a non-professional's camera, it sure takes professional-looking photos. I'm complimented all the time on the quality of the shots i get with this camera. <3 it!**

I LOVE it.

My husband bought me this Fujifilm S5100 FinePix four or five years ago for Christmas (sorry can't remember for sure, old age setting in) I really love this digital camera. I know in this day and age a 4.0 mega pixel isn't much, but when a camera is great, its just great. I am sure that today they have a even better camera, but I sure do not want to give this one up. I will use it until it dies I guess. Everyone that knows me, calls me the camera lady. I am forever sticking my camera in their faces.  ha ha  But you know what?  They really do love it. I have bought another digital camera since then. It is a OK camera, but I always go back to my Fuji. It is still my favorite one. I take all of the pictures, of the parties and get-togethers for family and friends. Believe me, when there is a get-together of any kind, I am ask to take the photos. I crop and/or enhance my pictures, make everyone look lovely!!!  The teenagers use to hide their faces, but now they let me take their picture.

I love my FinePix s5100

I have had this camera for almost 7 years and I love, love, love it! It helps me take pictures and short videos easily and they look much more professional than smaller, box-shaped digital cameras I've experienced. It's easy to store or delete photos and very easy to transfer photos and videos onto my computer. My only complaint is that there are no larger or different lenses made to fit onto this camera and offer more variety in my photography. Oh...and the fact that it doesn't come with a person to sort, print, and arrange my photos in lovely albums is a bit of a bummer, too.

Where do I start. I have had this camera for about 4 years now and my sister had it before me. Needless to say, it has taken more than it's fair share of photos and it just keeps taking. I am very impressed with the quality of the photos that I get printed, even with it only being a 10 megapixel. It is the perfect size to fit into your hand comfortably. It's a nice step up from the typical point and shoot. The 10X zoom is great. The only negative thing that I would say abou this camera is that early in the morning and near dusk, if you don't use the flash, the pictures turn out blurry. I love the macro setting, allowing you to get nice and close to whatever you are shooting. The colors are true. On a fully charged set of batteries, this camera would take several hundred photos. That is very nice, not having to lug around an extra set all the time. I have since moved on to another camera, but the only reason why I bought a new camera is because I was ready for an upgrade, onto a new Fuji, of course. :)

Fuji Finepix looks professional and takes great pics

I'm very happy with my Fuji Finepix S5100 digital camera and I'm not the greatest photographer--even though I aspire to be. I received this camera as a gift a few years ago from my dad who was a professional photographer. He liked all the high quality options that it offered and that it looks like a professional camera. I liked that it can take great photos when set on auto--very easy to use for a regular person. One of the great features of this camera is that it also offers video recording so you don't have to take a camera and a separate video camera when you are on vacation. I also like that the lense cover attaches to the strap so you don't have to wonder where you put it. One major drawback to this camera is that if you want a higher quality photo or if you want to take longer video episodes, it will eat up your memory card very quickly. Another drawback to this camera is that it is bulky.

This Fuji camera is great for beginners

This camera takes very clear pictures, with great color. It is very easy to operate. I had only one digital camera prior to purchasing this one and was a little unsure as to what brand and style I was interested in. The sales clerk was very helpful and showed me a variety of cameras---in different price ranges and with various features. This camera was a little more expensive than some I had looked at, but not a very big price difference for the quality I felt I was getting. The main selling point was actually the simplicity of operation as it was explained to me by the sales clerk. I was worried that I would have problems after I was home and with no help available, not so!!! It is very user friendly and the manual is easy to understand. I showed it to my IT guy at work and he was very impressed, showed me many features that I was not aware of---and---he asked me to pick him up the exact camera the next time I was going to the store where I purchased it!!

so easy even mom can figure out

It's me usually asking the kids "which button does this and what does this button do" well not anymore, this camera is so easy I can figure it out without assistance from the kids. Easy location for all buttons, nice size not too heavy, I really like the feature where you can pick the shutter speed and how many pictures in a row it will take on auto shoot. Nice size viewing area, never had any problems, good size internal memory.

The Fuji Finepix s5100 digital zoom camara is very versatile.

The fuji Finepix S5100 zoom digital camara is very versatel.  It is great for all kinds of photography whether nature or sports or close up pictures for ebay.  The only problem is that it has so many settings, you really have to use it a lot and read the guide to remember how to se things for what you want.  I even use it to hook up to a telescope for night sky shooting.  The easiest way to use it is on automatic settings, but this will not work for such things as night sky shooting.
