Fuji FinePix E900 Zoom Digital Camera —

The FinePix E900 was my first digital camera. I looked all over for the best camera for the price point I wanted. FinePix E900 was recommended and it was a great value for the price. The problem is that it was my first and it has SO many settings. There are so many menus and submenus and it took me a while to figure it out. I loved the movie feature, but the files ended up being HUGE. I couldn't figure out how to make them small enough to email so I had to end up posting links to YouTube for the movies and they were 20 sec or less. My new camera is a FinePix Z20fd also and I am finding it has the same problem as the E900 - the flash is WAY too strong in many indoor situations. With the E900 you have to take the picture with flash and then usually turn the flash off to get it right. OK if people are posing, but you may get unsatisfactory indoor pictures until you get a feel for if the flash will be too strong.

It uses 2 AA rechargeable batteries, which are included with the charger. It's a plus to have an easy to find battery. Again, if you're a beginner, you may not know that using a regular alkaline battery in the camera lasts for about 3 minutes so get the rechargeables. It also includes a 16 meg memory card, which is small, but it's a start. It does use the xD memory card which is pricier. The included software is easy-to-use.

I liked it, but I think it just had too many settings and options for a first digital camera. You should either buy a case or neck strap for it, as it is too bulky to fit in a pocket or a small to medium purse. The viewfinder is a great size and the zoom is great too. The local community college offered a one-day class on using your digital camera. I was going to take it, because I felt like there were so many features on this that I did not fully understand how to use. Maybe the person who stole it is having better luck. :)
