Frye Regional Medical Center Hospital —

This hospital is not to good. They are really dirty. That is a concern for me because a hospital thats dirty may not have sterile instruments and that might be a problem.Every hospital has it's flaws but this one has been consistant on the nastiness part.I was sick so I had to go to the ER because my doctors office happend ot be closed on saturday.I went in and it didnt take long ot get me back so that was a major plus. Then when I went into the room i immediatly noticed someones hair starnds were on the bed so I refussed ot ly on it and I just sat in the rockinf chair. After the nurse went out I saw a uses needle lying on the floor behind the door with the needle still in it.I called the nurse and showed it to her immediately.I had to go to the restroom so I went in and there was urine on the counter just like someone had lifted up their leg and took a big pee.By this time I wanted to just leave and i knew one thing for sure no one was sticking me with a needle.Luckily for me I knew what was wrong so I told the ER doctor because I have had this wrong with me for awhile. So he politely wrote me a script but as I was talking to him I mentioned the conditon of the room.I mean theres needles, blood splatters and hair everywhere not to mention tissues in the floor ans his response was budget cuts I guess he was implying house keeping was on strike. As a patient this really concerned me because we go to hospitals thinking there safe and we ar praaying for good quality healthcare and it makes you kind fo wonder. This was not the first time this place had been like this.I had my gallbladder removed back in 2000.I had a really bad absessed gallbladder.I felt like I was having a heart attack they told me I was having an anxiety attack and sent me home.Later that nght I ended up at anothe hospital and my bilirubin level was 3 times the normal level,my liver was messed up and I endd up needing surjery like within the next 24 hours. My sergeon was affiliated with Frye so I had to go there.I had to go to the restroom before being wheeled off to surjery and accidentally got pee on my gown and I ask the nurse for a new one and sh told me I didnt need one and then when I awoke form y surjery I had the sam egown on with pee all on the side of it and I thought to myself boy I better be on some good antibiotics and have a great immune system or I am gonna be dead. This hospital is just not very clean. It has alot to offer and has alot of potential but to me safety and care has to come first and if your rooms are really disgusting then oyu may be skimping on medical equipment and personally I dont need a fatal disease contracted by a bad needle for being treated for something ongoing.

Hi,
I feel really bad for you and your wife.I know they are facing budget cuts and things but what they are doing to your wife is inhumane period! Making people share the same cup is disgusting and that should never go on.Take her to Catawba Valley Medical Center they have a 7th floor psych unit and substance abuse unit there and they are alot better and alot cleaner.report them to Raliegh.Contact NC Medical Board and ask them who to contact to investugate and also tell them that you want to file a report against the doctor as well. This is ridiculous.Julie

I agree with everything you said jlowe308. My wife is at the South Campus (behavioral health unit), and she says it is very dirty. She had a reaction to some medicine they gave her (which they should not have given her to begin with because of her epilepsy), and she got sick and vomited. The pan they gave her to vomit in sat in her room. She informed the staff and they told her to keep it in case she did it again. She had to clean it out herself, and they did not take it out of her room until the next day. The patients on her unit have to share a drinking cup for taking their meds. One patient has pneumonia and others have coughs, yet they're making them all share the same cup????? To top it off, she asked for a simple Tylenol and was told that they were too busy doing paperwork to get one for her. They rarely clean out the trash cans in the patient rooms. The staff is also very rude to me when I call to check on her, and she complains that the staff is very rude to all of the patients. I would recommend driving any distance to avoid going to Frye.
