Frost King Water Heater Insulation Blanket —

The Frost King Water Heater Insulation Blanket SP57-11C is a great idea to help you save energy and money.  Look for the energy star logo.  It is easy to install, improves your heater's efficiency and will fit most gas, oil and electric water heater tanks up to the 60 gallon size.

This product is not just for the winter but will save you money all year long.  The vinyl faced fiberglass blanket wraps easily around the hot water tank and secures with vinyl tape that is included in the kit.  It has a high R value of 11.

To install, simply clean the top of the heater and allow to dry before installing the blanket.  Measure the height and width of the tank and cut if necessary.  Wrap the cut insulation around the tank and apply three small pieces of tape to hold seam shut.  Once that is done cut out the areas that house the thermostats, burners, etc.  [Full instructions come with the blanket that give more detail.]  Apply tape down the full length seam of the blanket.

Do not insulate the top of the heater.  Avoid contact with the fiberglass side.  Wear goves and wash hands after installing.

Before you start cleaning up lower the thermostat on your tank a bit because the blanket will help keep the water warm longer...

My husband I installed this with ease.  We have an unusually large water heater and had to make a few adjustments but it was done in a matter of minutes.  Be cautious of the fiberglass.  Wear a mask if you have one.

I've used that before. It is hard to control- maybe it was just me. LOL

My brother used some kind of stuff that you sprayed out of a can and it expanded. I think he only used it around the pipes connecting to the water heater.

This sounds like a good product to have; especially for people whose water heaters are outside in the garage or under the house. Mine is in a cabinet in the laundry room.
