I'm a big time Coupon Mom so it was my duty to purchase the True North Pistachio Crisps by Frito-Lay when they were on sale and when I also had a coupon.  So my $3.49 regularly-priced 4.5 oz package was obtained for less than $2 at my local grocery store.

I'm not a big pistachio person and am not sure what other products outside of the infamous green ice cream contain these nuts.  That still didn't deter me from trying these crispy snacks.  I wasn't sure what to expect but figured that I could always paw these off on my dog (pun intended) if neither my family nor I liked this product.  Unfortunately for my dog, the family consensus was, to paraphrase my son, that these crisps rock!

Pistachio-lover or not, I think that most people would really like True North Pistachio Crisps.  They are light, crispy, contain just the right amount of sea salt, and are downright addictive.  After I managed to tear away the package from my children's tight-gripped hands, I checked the nutrition facts and was happy to discover that this is a healthy snack.  A 1 oz. serving (about 12 crisps) contains the following:

140 calories

7 grams of fat (1 gram of saturated fat)

zero trans fat

240 mg of sodium

15 grams of carbohydrates

2 grams of fiber

5 grams of protein

Unlike True North Almond Crisps, I could actually taste the pistachio nuts in these crisps.  And per my children, the bits of bright green in each crisp added to the coolness factor.  My family enjoyed these crisps so much that we emptied out our package in one fell swoop.  A little tip if you purchase this:  give the kids one serving, take one (or two) for yourself, and hide the rest (if there are any leftover)!

I would purchase True North Pistachio Crisps again, however I won't pay the grocery store retail price of $3.49 per package and will wait until they go on sale or when I have a coupon.  Even tasty and healthy snacks have a maximum price in my household so this Coupon Mom will patiently wait before pouncing upon these delicious snacks again.

I really like the True North products. I just wish that they would go on sale more often. :)
