Nice Basic Front Load Washer

4

We recently got this washing machine and so far I have been pleased with the results. Clothes have always come out clean, even with a two year old and an avid sports player in the house! A weird thing that I have found however is that if you do not change the laundry into the dryer within an hour or two of the cycle finishing it starts to smell as though it's been sitting there for a while. I do like that it is a front loader, I'm able to fit both washer and drying into my small pantry, and that is a plus. Many different modes and functions, also very quick modes for spot washing! Cleaning Time has the quickest modes I've ever seen, while still getting the job done. Performance As long as you change your clothes quickly, it performs very well. Ease of Use modes are very clear, soap areas are well defined as well Design LOVE the front load design, also compact enough to fit into smaller spaces. Durability we've only had it a couple months, but so far so good!

Good Impression, but doesn't last

If you are a male only home, not a bad washer... however I'm the only female in the house and ALL of my bras, spaghetti straps and tie strings get so twisted; so when I swap laundry over- half of my clothes are DESTROYED. The straps are ripped off. The handle broke off after a year of owning it, and now there is a hole all the way through the door because a screw worked it's way out some how. I ALWAYS keep the door open to air out, however the rubber all around the opening is molding. We attempted the whole stacking thing the first day that we bought it, but it wouldn't stay in place. And that was on the low spin setting. We have never been able to put the washer on any spin cycle above "LOW". This was my first front loader, and I will never get another! Energy Efficiency My bill did seem a LITTLE lower after purchasing the set. Cleaning Time usually about an hour, which is normal Performance with the mold in the washer, HOW IS IT REALLY CLEANING much of anything now? Design I have to take the soap drawer out monthly and clean out GLOBS of backed up laundry soap- i use the recommended amount, so don't know what is wrong with that! Durability after a year of owning, it's started falling apart!? DURABILITY means it will last long, I've owned it for 3 years now and have needed to replace it for the last year now.

Super washing machine for keeping up with a growing family

I have been using the Frigidaire Front Loader FTF2140FS Washing Machine for over 2 1/2 years now and I love it! ***Pros:*** Large load compacity. I am able to wash easily 7+ pairs of my husband's jeans in one load with room to spare. Gets clothes clean. I have two small kids who get into a lot and not only does this machine get my clothes clean it does it without damaging them. Energy Star. We switched from a top loader to this one & right away I noticed the difference in the amount of water used. Plus the clothes are spun so much more efficently that my drying time was cut in half! Plenty of settings. Even with this being one of the cheaper front loading machines, there are plenty of settings to choose from for all my loads. Price. Was the cheapest front loader available when we were shopping. ***Cons:*** Small socks tend to get stuck in the door seal area during the spin cycle leaving them very wet at the end of the cycle (they actually have to dry longer in the dry too, that is how wet they are). Cleaning. If you don't clean the machine about once a month & remember to keep the door open the machine starts to smell. Easy to do, but need to remember to do it.

Moves across floor during spin cycle

2

I just bought a new house.  This washer, with a dryer stacked on top, is installed in a wide closet.  My first (and only?) load started off great; I was very impressed at how quiet the machine was.  Then came the spin cycle where the machine started shaking/moving across the closet.  If not for the "pause/cancel" button, who knows what I would have done or where the washer and dryer would have ended up. The manuals that came with the appliance contain no mention of what might have caused the machine to move or what to do to prevent it from happening again.  Will I have to pay for an expensive service call to get the answer? If anyone knows what to do, please post!

Great Energy Saver

With all the new features front loaders have these days I was worried about how well I would like this washer - but I am loving it.  This washer is very convervative on the water which means you need about half the detergent - but it still washes fantastic.  I also love the extra rinse on this machine because I never have to worry about any soap residue left behind.  The heavy soil feature also helps get out stains, and this unit spins so well that my clothes feel almost dry when I take them out.  The detergent dispenser is super easy to remove which means I never have to worry about build up.  The dispenser also locks, which means if you have children they cannot easily open or get into the dispenser.  I have not had any issues with a musty or mildew in this machine but I do make sure to run the washer on empty about twice a month with bleach on the longest cycle.  I do also try to let the machine dry out by leaving the door open so that there is no excess moisture hanging around to help cause odors.   I do have the extended service plan, but I am hoping this washer sticks around for years to come.

Happy with it so far

4

I bought this washer with the matching dryer about 6 months ago. So far we've not had any problems with it. We got the 4 year service plan just in case though. The washer gets clothes super clean. My husband and kids get their clothes super dirty from work and playing outside but everything comes clean. I can wash 2 loads of clothes in it at once.  I couldn't be happier with it. I leave the door open when I'm not using it to prevent the mildew smell I've read about from some other review sites. After every load the rubber seal around the door has water sitting on and in it so I have to dry that out with a towel. After a few months it started getting noisy when spinning. It's not loud enough to bother me but I have noticed it's louder than when we first got it. Other than spinning noise it's so quiet we can't even tell it's on. The normal cycle is almost an hour long so it does take a while. I wish a hot water soak was an option. Our electric bill has actually gone up since we got this washer so that's a bummer. All in all even with my peeves about it I'm happy we got it.

Easy to use washer

3

The Frigidaire FTF2140FS front load washing machine is easy to use and convenient.  It has ten settings which include handwash, sport, and delicate.  The handwash setting is good for me because I have several items of clothing that require them to be handwashed.  The machine being front load makes it easy to load and can be loaded with less effort.  I like the front load feature but it can be difficult to tell if the machine is overfulled.  On the top left hand corner of the machine is where you put the detergent and fabric softener.  It is very easy to open and pour what you need into it.  There are lights on the front of the machine next to words such as spin or rinse.  These lights turn on when the machine is on that step.  To start the machine all you have to do it hit the start button twice instead of pulling out a knob like on other washing machines.  This machine has a matching dryer.

Love this washer

5

I have been very pleased with this washer. I have had it for about a year and a half now, and could not be happier. When my old top loader died, I knew I wanted a front loader, but was unsure I could find one to fit our current laundry space. We live in a townhouse, and our laundry room is a small closet. The new front loader had to fit into the exact same space as the old machine. We lucked out on this model, it fits perfectly, and offers the increased load size I needed. We are a family of four, and finding a smaller washer that will hold a single load that fits ALL the family's jeans is quite a trick. I was also a little worried that the front loader wouldn't clean as well as my top loader had. That always seems to be the biggest complaint I hear from people who have swithched, but I think my laundry is as clean, if not cleaner. I have also noticed a small difference in the utility bill. I do a lot of laundry for 4 people, about 10 loads in a good week. So energy efficiency was a big deal to us. I would happily reccomend this washer to anyone.

OK Machine

3

I bought this washing machine approximately two years ago.  It worked great until recently.  The spin cycle has become a bit noisier and sometimes it does not drain completely, especially the small loads.  As with many high efficiency front load washing machines you do have to run a bleach cycle at least once a month to keep mildew smells at bay.  Also, the machine is starting to fill with water when it is not on, every now and then.  I have to check the machine before opening the door (will call repair man soon).  In a positive light I do like the variety of wash cycles available and that there is a heavily soiled option that will add extra minutes to the wash cycle.  I also like the large capacity of  the machine.  However, the water temperature control could be tweaked.  I prefer separate wash and rinse cycle temperature controls.  Overall I can honestly say that the machine is just average, nothing great.  I bought the machine in a pinch (plus trying to be eco-friendly).  If I had to do it again, I would cough up a little extra money and buy a better model (plus there is a tax rebate!).
