A freezer is something that most families really need. The small freezer compartment on most refrigerators is just not enough storage space to put enough food for a family to put enough food for a week. I used a small chest type freezer for years that was passed down to me when my grandmother passed away. When it went out, I knew I wanted a larger freezer. After shopping at our favorite appliance store, my husband and I decided on the Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0. It was a huge chest type freezer that would more than serve the purpose of storing enough food for my family.

Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0

The Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0 freezer measures approximately 3 ft. high x 5 ft. in length and 2.5 ft. in depth. It’s really big. I chose a solid white color to match my other kitchen appliances, which were all white at that time.

As I stated earlier, it is a chest type freezer and is not frost free. I opted for non-frost free because we normally go through at least one hurricane a year here and the extra ice inside will just help keep my food cold and frozen in the event of a major power outage longer.

The Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0 has a shelf on one side of the freezer that is convenient for putting things that you will use often. It makes it easy to reach in and pick up the item without having to stand on your head. The area underneath is where the compressor is. Both sides of the freezer has a removable basket, which also makes for a great place to store smaller items and ones that you use frequently. The baskets are easy to take in and out when they are not full and can be arranged in the center or side-by-side if you prefer.

My Thoughts on the Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0

I have owned this freezer for about 5 years now and have never had any problems with it. I would have to say that my major complaint is that being only 5 ft. 3 in. tall that reaching items in the very bottom of the freezer can be difficult but can be done with a small step stool or the use of my hubby.

The Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0 is not frost free, but that was my choice. When we have lost power due to Hurricane Gustav this year, we were without power for four days. We didn’t even have to run the generator on the freezer because I also store 2 liter bottles of ice in the bottom which helps to keep the freezer insulated in major power outages caused by storms.

The freezer is very roomy and I doubt that I will ever fill it totally up with food, especially since my kids are all grown and have moved out. It will come in handy if we decide to plant a garden. I will have lots of room to freeze vegetables.

I have only defrosted this freezer once. It was fairly easy using a wet-dry shop vac. Since reaching the bottom of the freezer is difficult for shorties like me, this is the method I would recommend even though it does have a drain for defrosting. Using the shop vac is just quicker and less trouble.

The Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0 retails for under 500 dollars and makes a great freezer for a family of any size.

The Frigidaire Commercial Freezer, Model No. FFC15C4CW0 is a solid performing chest type freezer and well worth the investment.

The frost isn't bad at all. Right now it is only like an inch thick and doesn't cover the entire inside, just mainly around the top.

When we get a house I'd love to get a freezer to stock up when those really good sales are on. Saves trips during winter and bad weather. Interesting what you said about the yearly hurricane - good idea. How bad does the frost/ice build up in the meantime?

I miss our freezer...We moved up here and let a family member use it to find out they sold it...yeah real pleased, but a new one doesn't sound to bad! :)

Sounds like a nice freezer. I must be odd girl out because I don't even have half of the freezer above my refridgerator filled. My best friend has her deep freezer in her garage and she uses it to judge her distance for parking. If she hits it then she's too close :+o Perhaps we should see what kind she has because it's very durable ;+)

Yeah and I am a huge hoarder. If I see something on sale, I want LOTS of them. Even if it's just chicken breast. lol.

We just bought a big freezer and I have no idea what brand name it is. I will have to go take a look. It's deep and fairly large. Now I want to fill it up!

It comes in handy when the icemaker gets behind :)

The ice at the bottom is a great idea! You are a genius.
