The Case

I have no idea how I missed this show last season. Not only is it fantastic and about football (which I love), but it's shot right here in Austin! And I missed it! I feel ashamed. But don't worry - I've now discovered the beauty and become a full-fledged fan of Friday Night Lights. And it...

Many people fell head over heels in love with this show.  I was not one of them.  Many of the characters annoy me to no end but it has a phenomenal cast.  The acting is WAY above average and the storylines are realistic for the most part.  It is NOT just a football show.  In fact, football plays... review »

I love this show.  It is a family style drama and perfect for watching on a relaxing Friday night.  The premise of the show is the drama revolving around the players on a high school football team.  It is not only about the players, but you also get to step inside the life of the football coach.  Coach is married to a wife who just returned to work as the school guidance counselor after having a baby.  They have a daughter Julie who is a student at the school and used to date one of the players Matt.  Matt's character was first introduced as a boy with a lot of heart, taking care of his ailing... review »

I just finished watching the entire first season of Friday Night Lights on DVD and I really enjoyed it. My husband actually watched it also and he usually never watches any dramas that I watch.   Sometimes the teenage drama takes over a little, but it doesn't take away from the overall show.    The move to Friday at 9 is great.

Great drama show that NBC  needs to move to a better time slot. Many of us southern high school sports fans would love this show but many of them are at games on Friday night when this is on. Come one NBC you need to move this to a better day and your ratings will soar as this is one of the best shows on TV.

FNL is a great show!  I really don't understand why NBC doesn't think this show will work.  I thought it was a great move to placing this show on Friday nights in front of Las Vegas (also a good show).  There is not any good tv on Fridays - so I would think that NBC would be the Friday slot winner.

About the show - I am 30 years old and love this show, it is not just for kids.  FNL is spot on with its portrayal of southern fried football and all the drama that surrounds it!  It is a total throw back to how my highschool was.  I love Riggins, a hot & sexy bad boy underdog - Taylor Kitsch...

I'm not in any way a football fan, but I love this show. The cast of largely unknown actors is outstanding & make their characters very believable. Issues are explored in ways which are complex & transcend stereotypes.

It's set in a small town in Texas & centers around a high school football team, but there are all kinds of people portrayed - a wide range of races, ages, classes, religions & personalities. Relationships change over time in ways which are true to life & often surprising.

This is a show for people who like thoughtful television, which raises questions of personal values - What does...

My friends kept telling me to watch this show, but I didn't listen.  I like football, but I sure didn't want to watch an hour-long drama about it.  One night when I was sick, I started watching an episode online.  I watched all the episodes online before I got well, and anxiously awaited the next week.  The characters are so believable, I feel like I know them.  I remember all their names, because they seem real.  I love the football scenes because they anchor all the stories and give the characters something to experience together (in different ways), but it's not at all about football,... review »

I didn't watch this show during the first season because I thought it'd be very football-centric. Finally, after hearing my friends all raving about this show, I gave in and watched the entire season in 2 days. The first few episiodes, particularly the pilot, were definitely more football-centric than I care for but it was necessary to establish the plot and everyone's roles. The show still deals with football, obviously, but they've also incorporated a lot of character building. Everyone is nicely fleshed out and three-dimensional. The show doesn't use any soundstages and always shoot on location... review »

I watch alot of TV, like 40+ hours a week.  I'm famous among my circle of family and friends for recommending shows and movies to them that they might like or warning them against certain things.  I can't say enough about this show - everyone says it's not just about football and it's so true.  The characters are real, they're honest and they're wonderful.  I absolutely love love love the interaction between Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.  In a recent episode their teenager daughter Julie was mad at her father and ran into her bedroom and slammed the door - brought back memories!  I love... review »

When I first heard about this show I didn't think I was going to get into it because it was based on footbal and religious Texans, which is very far from what I am normally into. I was in for a surprise. Yes, this show revolves around football but you don't even have to like football to love this show. The characters are young and facing incredible hardships, some of which are not always adressed in shows. I absolutely love the cast and the drama, because there is always more to every story. The cinematography is also very good, especially during the football games.

I am a Friday Night Light addict. I have recommended this show to ALL my friends and family! I love the character development, storylines (minus this year's season premier murder), documentary style shooting, the football games, ACTORS, writing...I hope they do not hijack this series to try and make it more "appealing" to the masses. I think it would be loved by all with it's original inception. I am glad that it moved time and nights. If you are not watching, give it a try. The first season is out on DVD. I, of course, had to own it!

As I sit and write my first review, I have to say I love the show Friday Night Lights. It has to be one of the best shows on TV. It has great story lines acted out by unknown yet very talented actors. My husband and I don't agree on the same shows to watch ever except for this one. He is the big football enthusiast and I love the drama. This show has a great combo of both. I can only hope it survives it mediocre ratings. I tell everyone to watch in hopes that great shows like this are not taken off the air and replaced with some reality show.

Friday night lights is more than a show about high school football, it captures the everyday struggles and nuiances of life in a town that could be yours or mine. It blends the action and excitment of high school football, with real life drama, relationships and social issue's. Yes like any show it dramatizes alot of situations, but it is still very real and gritty. My wife and I love the characters, plot and the way it takes you back to those days in high school while pulling you back into the daily life situations we all may face.

The dialog and camera work make this show so real that it's almost like watching a documentary.  Even the morally challenged characters are so likable that I want to watch every week to see that they are still OK.  You don't have to be a football fan to enjoy this show, but I'm sometimes disappointed that there isn't a game in show on a given week.  The games they do show are interesting and fun to warch, and all my friends cheered when the Panthers won the state championship.

I really enjoy Friday Night Lights.  It reminds me of Dawson's Creek which I was a fan of also.  I like watching the characters grow up as they encounter life's little hurdles.  Some of the storylines have been a little extreme but I feel the actors are great and make the characters seem believable.  This show can help you teach your young adults-teens some valuable lessons in humility and integrity.  Who couldn't use more of that these days?
