Fresh Step's packaging is horrible

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I felt I had to write a review about this cat litter after I finally gave in and switched back to it starting yesterday. Here's the thing: Fresh Step Scoopable scoops the best of all the cat litters I have ever tried, and I bought it religiously up until about a year or so ago. That is when the company had this terrible idea that 42 pounds of cat litter would go into a bag better than a tub. I believe they did this for environmental reasons. Unfortunately, when they did that my back said "NO WAY" every time I handled it. The other problem is that uesterday at Petsmart, the 42 pound bag was on sale for $14.99, while a 20 pound cardboard box was $9.99. Therefore, I felt I had no choice but to ...

Fresh Step is great for multiple cats

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We have five cats (all but one inherited), and four cat boxes, so a good cat litter is absolutely essential in our home. We need really good clumping action and odor control. Fresh Step Premium Scoopable offers both. I clean our boxes both morning and night, but with some litters, the clumps still break up- not with Fresh Step. The litter clumps hard and is easy to clean up. It also lasts a long time. They also come in new packaging — a plastic bag instead of a tub for the large sizes. I was skeptical. I thought it was going to go everywhere when I poured the litter into the box, but it didn't. The top of the bag is shaped as a sort of funnel, which makes it easier to pour than from the tub. The litter is a bit dusty when you pour it, but I'm not sure if there is any litter out there that isn't. Now that we have found Fresh Step, I don't believe we will be trying any other brands. It suits our needs perfectly.

Fresh Step Litter is pretty good!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

Fresh Step Premium Scoopable Clumping Cat Litter is a pretty good product.  I use it frequently and my cats (and I have two) like this brand.  I really think that scoopable litter is a more economical, less wasteful option than traditional types of clay cat litter.  I do think Fresh Step Litter is a little dusty, meaning that when I pour it into my litter boxes, I do tend to get a little cloud of dust .  It's certainly not a deal breaker but would be a very welcome improvement to Fresh Step's litter.  I have found that this is a bit of an expensive litter but if you watch for deals and the occasional coupon, it still ends up being cheaper than having to dump the whole pan of litter each time you change the box.  I have been pretty pleased with the length of time that this litter prevents that horrible odor from seeping into the rest of the house.  Keeps the kitties happy and in the end thats what matters.

It smells so nice in here that I forgot I had an indoor cat!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My cat is 14 yrs old and over the years we have tried many, many different kitty litter brands. Regardless of price, none of them keep the odors down as well as Fresh Step.  At one time we had 4 indoor cats and I never smelled the kitty box, as long as I filled it with Fresh Step. I have learned to no longer bother trying anything 'new and improved' because Fresh Step has always worked and no improvement is needed.

pretty good!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

This is the first cat I have ever had.  It is actually my 6 year old son's cat.  I did not want to be doing any of the work for the cat, so I was looking for a litter that my son could take care of.  This does the job pretty well.  My son doesn't get to the litter every single day, but this does a good enough job covering the smell that it hasn't mattered.  We have even gone up to a week when we were out of town, & could only detect an odor right after the cat "went", but not long after.  Although I wouldn't recommend regularly waiting a week to clean it.  The clumping works very well, although my son has to shake the box some to get the clumps to rise to the top.  It is easy for him to scoop and transfer to a plastic bag.  My only complaint is it really gets tracked all over the room, more so than some other brands we tried (although those ones didn't clump as well).  This is our main brand of choice, unless we find a killer deal on another brand.

The only brand I'll use

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

There are many things I will be brand flexible or perfectly ok with generics on...and then there's cat litter.  I've tried only a few other brands and been completely disappointed in every way with them when compared to Fresh Step.  Their litter clumps the best, which is a must since I use a LitterMaid to automatically scoop the litter.  It controls odor better than any other brand I've seen and as a bonus, they sell it in mass quantities at Cosctco.  I love the Paw Points rewards program, which I haven't cashed in for a reward yet, but I have a TON of points racked up for when I do.  The rewards seem to rotate but there are some great ones there.  This is the best litter for me with 2 cats and a LitterMaid.

Love the clumping ability. Makes it easy to scoop up.

I have two cats. This litter makes it easier to clean any Mess that that the cats leave behind. The liquid would harden into a semi-hard mass, thus making it easy to scoop out the urine. I add baking soda to the litter just to keep it fresher longer. The texture is like sand. The cats would basically cover their poop by moving the litter on top. It is a bit expensive but it saves me money and time in the long run. I use to try all kinds of litter. I had the kind that was similar to gravel in texture but I found that it was more costly in the long run since it wasn't absorbent or clumping. I had to clean and disinfect my litter box out more often with the gravel type of litter. With the clump...

Fresh Step Premium Litter lives up to all claims

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

One of the best compliments that an indoor cat owner can get is, "You have cats? I couldn't tell!" We have two cats, both of whom are quite active in their litter habits. We have been using Fresh Step Premium Scoopable Clumping Cat litter for 3 years and, even when we were living in a 700 square foot apartment, we heard comments at least once a week that our home didn't smell like cats.

The clumping makes it very easy to clean the cat litter. A few passes with the litter scoop and you're good to go. The clumping litter costs more than traditional cat litter but it makes up for that by the fact that you're not going through as much. A 40 lb bucket of Fresh Step Premium will last us through a...
