Freedom Writers  —

Gripping, inspiring and educational; featuring Hilary Swank, Patrick Dempsey, and Mario.

Erin Gruwell (Swank) starts her teaching career in one of the worst possible places, a school in the middle of a war zone.  Surrounded by violence and the fight to survive, Gruwell tries to help her students thrive and succeed not only in school but in life.

Caught in a system that doesn't care, these kids are given the chance to better their lives.  Do they take the chance?  Watch and see as this movie goes in some very interesting directions.

Although the storyline is familiar, it doesn't have any butt kicking character portraying the teacher.  It also boasts a great soundtrack.

Wow is there another movie with this title? The one I saw was about a teacher who had a "difficult" class and instead of giving up on them like everyone else she actually did a whole lot for them. They met Anne Frank and a few holocaust survivors, and a lot more.

What movie did you see? It was a piece of garbage and an insult to the black community. I guess it was also a wonderful situation on the plantation where the nice white lady looked after her poor blacks, who would have been hopelessly lost without her. Give me a break!
