Freebie Finds —

I must admit that I was a little skeptical when I first ventured into FreebieFinds.blogspot.com because I already have signed up for a great many coupon and free offer sites.  I didn't expect to find anything I hadn't seen before but in this I was wrong.  Although the site seemed a bit confusing at first, I came to realize that it was like a game or a treasure map -- there were good things hidden all over the place under this or that link.

Thanks to Lisa Carey, the site-master, I now am signed up for the fabled E-Bates program and was able to get another dollar-off coupon for Windex even though I had printed off that same coupon in two other sites already.  This week I will be able to enjoy a free cappuchino at Barnes & Noble and if I had only signed on to FreebieFinds sooner, I could have cashed in on that free Kashi chocolate chip cookie that everyone has been talking about lately.  (Now, it's too late!)

I have subscribed to FreebieFinds.blogspot.com and will be checking my e-mails eagerly for more updates.  A person can't have too many coupons and special offers to use, especially these days.  One thing I did notice was that some of the free offers tend to be store-specific (in other words, good at Wal-Mart's or Costco's).  Since I rarely get to those stores, I won't be able to use them but perhaps I can give a heads-up on this to my friends who could take advantage of things like that.  I did find a couple links that had expired but this is true of any special offer or coupon site.

What this site has which the other sites don't is Lisa's writing.  I would like to see more of that here.  Meanwhile, Lisa, thanks for steering me onto this wonderful treasure island of yours.

Incidentally, I don't know how anyone makes it with just a p.o. box. Gosh, when I go on vacation, my neighbor downstairs collects my mail for me and she ends up with a huge shopping bag of stuff!

I have a p.o. box which I check about every 3 wks. if that. I can just imagine how jam packed my box would be if I started getting all sorts of samples. One time I waited so long to check my mail that when I did all I had was a postcard. I thought it strange I didn't get anything else until I noticed it was a claim ticket to pick up a tub of mail ;+) ~Gigi

Now doesn't this sound just like something I'd like! I'm printing your review out as we speak. Thanks for comment on wreath. It's fun and it's CHEAP. On to late-day teaching (it's 3:30 and I'm just getting started). Hope you find "Prancer". We can watch it together at an appointed time.

I noticed that "Krispy Kreme" thing about some stores giving free donuts away to people who have the "I Voted" badges this coming Tuesday. For that, I might even go over and vote EARLY!

Great review of a great site Anna. We have quite a collection here of freebies we have received and they have come in handy more than once. I have a Dove therapy conditioner sample I HAD to use due to a "tester" shampoo I got that torn up my hair.

Happy Halloween to you too! I didn't think that at all! Everyone knows how "frugal" I am and teases me about it. But hey, I am in the one in my group that when people want to go out to eat the call to find out the happy hour specials and kids eat free deals. We work hard for what we have, nothing wrong with making it go as far as we can. And I find some really wonderful products from time to time with my samples and hopefully others do to. Course I find bad ones too, I kept thinking this body heat pad would be terrific so I got a sample and so did some friends. I tried it a number of times to learn it's pretty useless. And I didn't have to waste my money to find it out. Stick around we can all learn from each other.

You know, Lisa, I looked at that message I sent you earlier and I hope you don't think that all I gave my friend's daughter was some cologne and samples. (I'm cheap but not THAT cheap!) She's such a wonderful hard-working young nurse and my main gift to her is always a pretty respectable Starbucks gift card. The samples and things were just extras. Incidentally, I welcome your ideas about savings -- I know a champ when I see one and I've got a lot of good ideas from you already! Have a nice weekend and a great Halloween and I hope Wonder Woman has a great time tonight!

Thanks for the tips, Lisa! I went in and ran out some more of those Johnson coupons. Felt a little guilty as I have used two sets of them already (!) but apparently as long as the website name is different in the lower right-hand corner, these are accepted okay and I didn't receive any notice about print level being reached or anything. I know where you're coming from about the free samples and stuff -- around here, we've been giving them to each other for years -- in stockings and stuff. I'm so cheap I even take those little bottles and stuff from motel rooms and either use them or give them away! Last Christmas I gave my friend's 21-year-old daughter a ton of cosmetic samples and stuff along with a bottle of fancy cologne in a travel bag. I regret that I didn't get into seriously saving money until I was in my 30's but it sure pays off. When I bought my condo years ago I had to put $500 earnest money down -- $300 from an article I had published and $200 from money I had saved with coupons and rebates, etc. So you have the right idea -- it does make a difference especially if you have a "buddie" or two to save money with. Well, more later and keep those ideas coming!

Here's my little secret-- I have been washing my hair and conditioning it, using body wash and facial cleanser samples for over a week now. -- Talk about savings! You can also save them up and if you get the children's freebies -- like stickers, dvds and coloring books and start your stocking stuffer with them, along with free bars and candy or gum samples. Or my other suggestions was to fill up stockings with samples of personal hygeine and care items and take them to seniors at the retirement homes. That way they get a visit, a treat of items they normally don't have. Nothing wrong with being frugal, when I was a single mom I learned FAST to make the most of what I have. Decided I liked it that way. :-) I hope you AND your friends can save a lot from the site!

Oh, I see -- I thought what I've been calling the "store specific" ones had to be USED at the stores! You know, like sometimes Jewel and Dominick's will have special coupons just for use in their stores. Even if tht was true, however, it would still be okay as I often switch or trade coupons with my friends. I tell ya, Lisa, I have great respect for all this saving this and that and I'm never ashamed to do it. I've noticed lately that even "real men" are beginning to us coupons too, which i encouraging. I went back into your site the other day and now I'm going to get a coupon good for a free Arby's sandwich over at the store on Harlem (near me). All these little things add up!

LisaCarey wrote on Oct 30, 2008 at 12:33PM

Thank you for the kind words! Glad that you are also enjoying the writing. Guess what -- the store specific ones come in the mail so you don't ever have to go to the store to get them, but often there are free events there also. Also, try the freebie sites I mention == like psst and such they will send you the samples that are good sizes. Very cost effective. Continue to enjoy! And I will keep trying to make it easier to use. Blogger is tying my hands!

I went in again today and found something else -- a free coupon (being mailed to me) for a sandwich from Arby's. I chose the one over on Harlem near me.

LoveisJoy wrote on Oct 29, 2008 at 12:35PM

Isn't this a cool site? It's nice when I open the mailbox and there's a free sample interspersed with all of the bills. :)

I love freebies but I don't like having to dig around the internet to find them. I checked out this website and will continue to do so.
